Field of Fire Vol1

Really excited as I've managed to get hold of a second hand copy for just £36 including shipping from France.

I've been after this game for a long time as it's tactical and solo which is just my bag.

I'm aware the rules can be difficult so I'll have to print of the 2nd edition rulebook.

Still really looking forward to getting it out on the table.

Just recently I've gone abit boardgame mad, buying Field of Fire, Wing leader, The Great War, Combat leader and Expansion, Upfront reprint, Warbirds: Canvas Falcons and Tiger leader. I've sold NATO Next War Korea though to get The Great War. I'm still looking forward to Red Poppies Campaigns: Ypres and maybe Great War Commander.

I do need a decent table though to play them!

The only game out of that lot that I have reservations about, but I do believe it will become what it should have been on release, is Tiger Leader. Obviously Canvas Falcons will have to be played using VASSAL as it will be way to expensive to print out, I'm hoping it does get a full production release at some point. Still have to get around to getting the mini's of the spruce in The Great War and none so far have even been punched! As I said I need a table. The thing is opening the box for the first time and taking it all in is a buzz in it's self. Love the smell of freshly printed rulebooks aswell.

I hope you enjoy Fields of Fire. It's a pretty intense game, as solitaire titles go. There were SO many gaps in the V.1 manual, it was a real chore to get up and running. I'm sure V.2 will be a big improvement.

Like you I've run way over budget on games this year. Not a huge number of titles, but all were on the expensive side (Hakkaa Paalle!, Enemy Action: Ardennes, & The Greatest Day: Sword, Juno, and Gold). The Greatest Day arrived just today. It was a super expensive pre-order prior to the Canadian dollar tanking. And wouldn't you know it, this was the first pre-order that wasn't charged until it shipped. Did I mention that shipping came to $71 F-ing bucks. Good thing it is an absolute monster of a game. Matched up with the second title I'm pretty sure it will stretch from one end of the house to the other O0

No way! Geez. I bought a blueberry iMac (remember those?) several years ago when you could get them reasonably cheap on ebay and I don't think the shipping for that thing was that expensive! That's pretty darn steep. That's going to be a classic though.

Sadly, GMT keeps pushing the re-print schedule back. Now into next year.

That's why I decided to get it second hand. If I enjoy it then Vol2 will be bought new.

My ex was a lunatic hence I'm a single Dad. Also a two bed flat has no real room for a dining table. Still will try and find a decent coffee table for the living room and be good to my Mum and Dad and hope I get it for Xmas:)

Arrived today. Everything looked great..until I noticed no actual rulebook! At least the counters had been punched neatly and bagged...hopefully get it sorted out. If not will just have to be content with home printed 2nd edition..annoying it's not complete though.

Do what I do - use a small table (mine is about 38cmx58cm) and put a board on top. I put the board away when I'm not playing a board game and if I am and I don't want it sitting out, I slide it under the sofa.

I use the same setup when I'm making my models.

I got the table off my wife's aunt and I bought the board (mdf) for £5. The board is 61cmx122cm

Works fine. Enough space AND I can stow it.
