Been watching this one as I love The Walking dead. Been a pretty slow start however I'm sure it will build up to a massive climax. I can see the series getting better and better and it's a good change to follow new characters.

Been watching it and enjoying it. But i don't understand how, after a certain point in time, it won't play out exactly like The Walking Dead.

There are tons of different storylines they can explore, Gus. Changing dynamics such as big cities, the desert, the ocean, etc.... What happens to all the gangs in Cali? Do they fill the vacumn left by the collapse of society? Do they continue to war against each other? Do they become slavers? The military refugee camps....well, those are overrun in every apocalyptic scenerio I've ever read. Do some of the big cities get nuked? Speaking of the big cities, you've got more survivors but also more undead. I dunno, I see a LOT of directions the writers can go. And I'm nowhere near my personal saturation point for zombie goodness  8)

Me neither. I'm also a season behind in The Walking Dead since I started watching it on Netflix...so everyone up to date is going into Season 6, I am going into Season 5 :(

I see what you're saying above but...BUT...I get the feeling the main characters are fleeing LA. If they somehow stay in the city (against all logic) my fear of it being just like the original series will be unfounded I suppose. I don't see the ocean being a setting...much more likely the desert a la Wasteland and Fallout games...the desert is tradition for this genre, really. I wonder how much gaming has influenced the writers...

Anyway...there are no books that FTWD is based on, correct? Unlike the original? So if that's the case I suppose they can do whatever the hell they want with the story.

I'm trying to stay interested in the show, but it feels like watching a soap opera with a few zombies added for suspense. I really don't care for any of the main characters.

My friend who is also a big TWD fan thinks the same way. But we'll both continue to the end of season one at least.

FTWD could prove interesting to see how things have developed on the opposite side of the country.  Will it not fall as completely apart as on the East coast, or worse.  (yes, I'm sure it will be as bad or worse)

I thought episode 5 was strong. Some solid character development as well as a new face who seems....interesting. Survival mode is kicking in and the season finale looms as civilization is unravelling ever faster. I've not been disappointed.
