I "borrowed" a suit of Samurai Armor from a friend who wears it (he belongs to a group which wears this stuff and whacks each other with giant wooden swords.)

I had signed up for a spooky fun run and needed a costume (last year went as a Viking).  While drinking a beer and brainstorming this seemed like a brilliant idea to go as a Samurai warrior.  Turns out the entire outfit with the solid steel helmet and Mempo weighs in at 50+lbs.  Needless to say I ditched the idea of wearing it all after trying it on for the first time.  Even the parts I left on for the run still weight over 25lbs.  The first mile I was really really regretting doing this.  I managed my 5K run in 11:40/mile which I was actually quite pleased with.  Now I feel for those poor Samurai peons who are told to rush 2 miles over a field and climb a hill.  My knees are still killing me a week later

All the ridiculous gear

(admin edit for jack-o-lantern icon... we don't get to use it much where it's actually appropriate!)

Awesome!

Pure awesome.  O0  I wouldn't be able to run to the bathroom in that get-up!

Oh, and to answer your question, I will be dressing-up as a middle-aged grump.

I don't dress up for Halloween. I dress down the other 364 days of the year.

I'm going as an uncle ;) . (Probably not a venue for the grown-ups to go in costume.) The nieces are going as a medieval queen and her... gypsy servant???

Granddaughter in costume.

Awesome.

About that age Daughter #2 decided she'd go as a purple witch. When we asked whether she was a good witch, or a bad witch, she responded that she was a "good bad witch."
