yeah it would be nice to be able to see what the npc was assigned to, especially when you get more.

"One thing I recommend for running settlements and finding things, build a bell.  It's located in the resources section under misc.  When you ring it, everyone in your settlement will gather, including stored companions.   I'd suggest putting the bell near your crops, because when you mouse over a settler as they're gathered, you can see, highlighted in green, where the settler is assigned.  It's not intuitive, or easy, or even remotely easy to figure out, but it's the only way I've been able to keep my settlements running. "

Thanks for sharing this!!

No problem.  It took forever for me to figure that out, it's been a real savior.

Another tip.  Do not, under any circumstances connect a TV to power in any of your settlements.  It apparently causes the settlement to have 0 beds whenever you're away.  Sanctuary fell to about 20% happiness in just a couple of quest outings until I figured out that the TV was causing it and unplugged the thing.

I lost all my 5mm ammo somewhere between games. I don't know if a crash was involved or not - but I had found 5mm ammo with another minigun I found and now it's gone - and I ain't used it!

Are you sure you didn't accidentally drop off your 5mm ammo in your Workbench -- or in some Workbench that isn't linked via a supply path? Would be very easy to do...

Fallout 3 is strangely giving me all kinds of grief through freezing/crashing. The last straw with freezing was when it did it three times in a 30 minute period, so I found a fix where a simple edit to the INI file fixes the freezing. Had no problems for about three hours, then had it crash to desktop twice in an hour. I never had this issue with it all the other times I've played it - gotta wonder if my PC is just an old horse I need to take out back and shoot.

I have a "new" machine compared to the release date of Fallout 3.  The game was unplayable due to crashes.  I share your pain.

I've experienced a weird situation.

I used my experience to purchase Locksmith level 2 which allows Expert level locks to be picked.  I'd made a list while playing of locks I could not pick.  So I started going back to pick the locks I was unable to crack earlier.

I went back to the Super Duper Mart.  Ghouls had repopulated the building.  OK - no problem.  The Ghouls had minor valuables.  OK - no problem.  But every single lock I had picked earlier was now relocked.  Worse, every single container (excepting individual named items such as a Comic Book) had also repopulated.  The shelves were restocked.  Melons were back.  All of the first aid containers were refilled.  The cash registers were full of prewar money.  Even the wine was back on the shelves.

Huh?????????

I benefit from the restocking, but why was the Nuka Cola back on the shelf?  Even prewar money back in the cash register?  Are the ghouls now stock-clerks?

This happens a lot.  Some places, like Super Duper Mart, have more than one quest attached to them.  They repopulate after you leave them for a while, or when you trigger the new quest.

When you've looted and quested out a location, it'll show up on your Pipboy as "[CLEARED]".

Unique items like bobbleheads and magazines are the only things that don't pop back up.

The "Cleared" flag only seems to last for short(ish) time -- maybe a week of in-game time?  I assume once it disappears that means enemies have respawned in that location (?)

I've been experiencing some disappointment with the Minutemen quests. It appears that after you reach a certain point -- liberating the Castle -- your missions just wind up being repetitive "Clear ghouls/raiders from X settlement".  I've had 3 missions to clear ghouls from Abernathy Farm in the span of a few days...  Oh well.  Still plenty of other thing to do, but seems like my run with the Minutemen is drawing to a close.

Yeah, the Minutemen and BOS Quartermastery lines are just a repetitive, seemingly never ending series of quests.  Time sinkers.   I'm assuming there are more lines like that as it goes along.

I was offered to join the police somewhere but refused - as I had "my settlement". Maybe I should revisit that. At the minute, my "Minutemen" tasks are to help settlements

So I think I discovered a bug that appears to be a show stopper.  This is on the PS4 version of the game.  Spoiler free report:

Whilst confronting a major bad character in one of the missions a dialogue takes place just prior to the final fight.  This fight is a particularly difficult one even if you bring strong weapons.  I died several times.  Each time I died and the game reloaded and I was forced to sit through the dialogue before the fight could begin.  After several failed attempts I got impatient and proceeded to shoot on sight rather than walk up and engage in that dialogue over and over again.  I won the fight but that was not the end of the mission.  The final step to completing the mission is to talk to a certain character about what just happened.  That character also happened to be my companion who mysteriously was not around for the final fight.  In any case when I exited the area where the battle took place and caught up to the character I could not get the conversation to begin.  The game kept telling me that the 'character is busy'.

So I saved, exited the game, rebooted the system, then loaded the game and save again.  Not only will the character not talk to me thus finishing the mission but now I can't draw my weapons.  Now I must either restart the game from the very beginning or see if there is an autosave or full save that I can go back to prior to beginning this mission.   :'(

Could you add a different companion, then go back and talk to that individual as a regular NPC?
