Hi all

Long time member but no contributions as i feel like have such small knowledge when it comes to games compared to everyone else that contributes here. 

I am a great lover of war/strategy games, but 3 boys aged 13-10 makes for little time for me.

Anyway, thinking of getting war between the states but want t make sure that it runs on windows 10. Can anyone give me feedback on this.  Have searched but nothing definitive.

Hello, you mention two different games....World at War in the post title, but in the message you ask about War Between the States Windows 10 compatibility....assuming you meant War Between the States, I own that one and did a quick install to see if it works in Windows 10, but I don't own the World at War game so couldn't try that.

For WBTS, its been a LONG time since I played it so don't remember anything about it, but some observations.

- Very long initial load time when you just open the game (don't recall if that occurred prior to Windows 10)....2-3 minutes. 
- Didn't appear to a way to set screen resolution size, but option for full screen that seemed to make use of my 1920x1080 resolution pretty well
- Need to run the game in "Run as Admin" mode
- I played through a number of turns, did not notice any issues or have any crashes....doesn't mean that something may not come up further in the game, but looked promising.

Besides the very long load time when you first open the game, seemed to work fine for me....it's possible the long load time is just my machine, but I don't recall that happening when I bought it many years ago, but could be wrong on that since it has been so long.

Thanks for the update.  Stupid me... I was looking at the war between the states page just before so had it in my head.  I was actually thinking of getting world at war, but the comments have been mixed on how it works on windows 10 and new systems.   My system is by no means powerful, just an average off the shelf pc.  AS mentioned, the kids and work take up most of my time, so despite my better endeavours i am gravitating more to FPS than pure strategy games.  I just do not have the time.

There are some really good strategy games that don't require a huge time commitment.  Have you considered games like Battle Academy 1 or 2 or Panzer Corps?

Well, Bro and I played Axis vs Allies when we were 10-13, and GG's World at War is essentially Axis vs Allies Deluxe. As far as I recall, it's possible to play it with none of the extra features turned on, in which case it's just computer AxvAl.

I have less than no idea whether it runs on Win 10, though.  :-[ It at least boots up on Win 8.1, since I installed it on my portable Surface 3 so I'd have it handy to play with the Bro again sometime (or with the nieces when they get old enough).
