...sigh

"All of Los Angeles' public schools were closed Tuesday due to a "credible terror threat," officials said."

It is being reported that New York City school officials got the same threat.  They did not deem it a credible threat and did not close down the New York City schools.

If the news/police are both saying "credible terror threat" instead of, you know, what the ACTUAL threat is, then I'm about 98% certain the threat is about on par with what SDR says.

One report I saw backs up Labbug's post. NYC and LA both got similar emails. NYC discounted it and LA didn't.

Frankly, that probably says more about how LA feels about DHS than anything else.

...i guess one 15ish year old script-kiddy hacker boy is now scared shitless that the IP spoofing of the mail to reroute it from Frankfurt/Germany actually worked and have led to this mayor world event, and that a lot of three-letter-acronym agencies are now out to find him.

The terrorist we have to face this days don't send warnings, they just do it.
If the warning would have come from some agencys intercepted data traffic or even some HUNINT (if those assets even exist dealing with imdependent home-grown self-radicalized cells of 1 to 3 individuals) that would have been a different story

I can't say I'd be all choked up if they decide to prosecute and convict that hoaxer as a terrorist who had actually done what he pretended to threaten to do.  >:( :knuppel2:

The most shocking fact about war is that its victims and its instruments are individual human beings, and that these individual beings are condemned by the monstrous conventions of politics to murder or be murdered in quarrels not their own. Aldous Huxley

A couple of months ago, several schools in Ohio and Florida all received threats at the same time.  The one in the county evacuated everyone, k-12, and all of the other schools in the county went to lock down.

Islamic terrorists do not call in warnings, they just do it. The fact that at was a threat should have been a clue already.

This was a vote of no confidence, not a response to a threat. The LA school superintendent was erring on the side of caution and protecting his kids. I'll bet you a dollar that after all the clues they missed in San Bernadino, with all the NSA spying in the world, every good guy supposedly looking for things like that, and they still missed all those clues...the superintendent was taking no chances.

Who could blame him?

My guess is that a student wasn't prepared for an exam that day and issued the threat. Or just wanted a day off.

I thought I read/heard that the email came from Germany. Maybe I'm wrong.

I heard they traced the IP back to Frankfurt... but doesn't mean much ....

Mom joked that the New York Superintendent figured the terrorists might as well try murdering the gangs in and around those schools, and see what happens.
