I have TTS.  I like to play:

1. SW Rebellion
2. Twilight Imperium 3rd edition
3. War of the Ring
4. Forbidden Stars

If anyone is interested in playing these games let's make arrangements for a session or two.

Peace

I don't have SW, but I've got the other three. Haven't played them yet.
ICEBREAKER THESIS CHRONOLOGY! -- Victor Suvorov's Stalin Grand Strategy theory, in lots and lots of chronological order...
Dawn of Armageddon -- narrative AAR for Dawn of War: Soulstorm: Ultimate Apocalypse
Survive Harder! -- Two season narrative AAR, an Amazon Blood Bowl career.
PanzOrc Corpz Generals -- Fantasy Wars narrative AAR, half a combined campaign.
Khazâd du-bekâr! -- narrative dwarf AAR for LotR BfME2 RotWK campaign.
RobO Q Campaign Generator -- archived classic CMBB/CMAK tool!

^They're all good games and fairly easy to get into.   :)

I know, I'm hard-pressed to pick one!

War of the Ring might be better for two players?

I'm ready to try SW:R with someone, perhaps next weekend...might want to get an article out of it if anyone is interested in writing up their thoughts afterwards.

Most definitely.  If one were playing the actual physical board game you can have 3 or 4 players.  But in the simulator I suspect that some of the players would be bored and it would be slightly cumbersome to keep switching colors to have everyone play their part.

I feel your pain Jason.  We all have gaming crossroads that must be crossed at some point and it's all the more difficult when faced with multiple gaming goodness options.

I'll play with you but put me down for the following weekend.  I'm going to be on the road this coming weekend.

Yes, War of the Ring is best for 2.  Although you can play with two teams of two if absolutely needed.  IIRC, SW:Rebellion is only 2-player.

For more than two players, I'd like to do some Forbidden Stars (among others).  Although I've never owned or played it, so someone would have to take the lead.  Wanted to pick it up the tabletop version after it came out, but I didn't have readily available opponents willing to do it.

The biggest issue would be scheduling.  Getting multiple people together for long and/or multiple sessions can be difficult, and it may never get finished if follow-on sessions don't happen fairly quickly.

This, by the way, is why I thought the forum could use TTS to play GMT's COIN series games, with a gamemaster showing screenshots: there is no secret information, and opponents rarely need to make choices during the same turn as each other (except during scoring turns). So a player gets emailed that it's his turn (or just follows the thread with some regularity), then makes his choices and finds out the result, then the next player goes. The only person who has to work the board is the gamemaster-player (though he has to take the duty of creating screenshots and reporting some information).

If we expect to do something with 3+ players, your picks that are high on my list:

Are any of you familiar with the Forbidden Stars rules?  It looked pretty cool, when I watched part of a demo quite awhile back.  But I'm almost completely in the dark about how it works right now..

I wouldn't mind doing some Eldritch Horror for some Lovecraftian co-op.  Been getting a craving to solo it on my table, again, lately.

The difficulty can be pretty brutal when running less than four characters, though.  Hell, you tend to get appendages broken, beat up by eldritch nasties, and go crazy fairly often anyway.  Which is a heavy part of the theme, of course.  I say Eldritch Horror, instead of Arkham Horror, because EH has streamlined rules and is easier to keep moving at a good pace.  Which is good because with four players, or two playing a pair of characters, it will still take awhile to finish.  Plus I still have much of EH's rules memorized.

Some of us were thinking of doing Fire In The Lake sometime.  Or Falling Sky.  Although it may be a bit confusing for the novice, so that hasn't been planned yet.  Was hoping to first ease into this TTS thing with some of the easier ones containing more apparent strategies.

I have the Xia DLC.  Also the fancy physical game.  Basically space pirates/merchants sandbox.  It's very similar to Merchants & Marauders (i.e. Sid Meier's Pirates in cardboard).  But the rules are a bit less heavy compared to M&M - which also has a big module btw!  While Xia lets you choose the VP target to win, I don't think you get the full experience of buying & upgrading new ships unless you aim for the higher (longer) end.  The Xia module looks impressive, but keep in mind that everyone kinda does their own things.  Puttering around the map, only occasionally getting in a PvP scuffle (which often comes off rather undecided anyway).  So player interaction can be hit & miss.

JP, Tuna, and I have an ongoing Warfighter game we need to finish.  Maybe next week since one of us will be traveling this weekend.
