Good day.

While we continue to work on the game, a preliminary question to our potential customers.

What kind of scenarios or campaigns would you like to see included? What would you like to do? What would you like to see?

Thank you.

I'd love to see the siege at khe sanh. Best of luck Jason!

Something from the earliest part of the war, maybe a scenario about the coup that toppled Diem, several scenarios from Tet including the assault on the embassy in Saigon and the battles in the north, something involving the brown water navy, something involving Montagnards, several air cavalry scenarios, lots of supply column ambushes, the siege of Khe Sanh, the year of the rat offensive, and the fall of Saigon.

It would be nice to have about four or five of the same type of scenario but from different periods of the war to show how things changed.  It would also be nice to have something about Cambodia and the Khmer rouge, and/or that late-war offensive that strayed accross the Cambodian border, and Laos shouldn't be left out either.  Maybe an LRRP ?

If you need a what-if, do a scenario about a special forces raid on the North to rescue prisoners from the Hanoi Hotel.  If you want to stay closer to reality, there's always the commando raid on that freighter that was seized after Cambodia fell.

And Arc Light.  Lots of Arc Light.

(But please don't leave out the brown water navy: sailing up the river is iconic).

Yeah, those big conventional fights that happened periodically would be best.  Not sure how the engine will handle the asymmetric part of the smaller operations.

I bet the Quang Tri easter offensive 1972 would be a good one for the engine.  Battle for Hue might be doable.  Lam Son 719 would be a great one if the helos are modeled right.

Dien Bien Phu.
Helicopter/Air Cav operations including the Ia Drang Valley
Hue
Naval Aviation operations from Yankee Station

At the risk of dating myself, the original Steel Panther had a good selection of Vietnam scenarios, many of which don't seem to have made it into the current versions.

I haven't looked at Camo workshop in a while so I don't know what's in or out at the moment, but what sticks in my mind from the old days is a city-clearing scenario (I think it was from year of the rat) involving ARVN and NVA, a brown river navy scenario in the Mekong with a winding river and lots of jungle, a great supply column ambush, and an assault on a Green Beret/Montagnard fortified post.

+1 to Dien Bien Phu and Ia Drang Valley scenarios.

Huế, definitely.

Khe Sanh, too.

Thanks!

All of the above, and be sure to include the ROK and Australians if possible. In addition to some stuff from the First Indochina War, covering the later Vietnamese intervention in Cambodia and the Viet-Chinese border war might also be interesting.

There's probably enough in here for at least two games.

Don't give them any ideas. We want it all...now.

The Marine & Army Defense of Dong Ha base in '68.

And other such large battles with the NVA.

The Battle of Long Tan would be reasonably small scenario at this scale. A company of Aussie infantry against a VC Regiment..
Gen. Montgomery: "Your men don't salute much."
Gen. Freyberg: "Well, if you wave at them they'll usually wave back."

Our plans are to ensure there is coverage between 1948-1985

That being the case, the countries we'll be including in the first release of the game are:

China
USA
France
South Vietnam
North Vietnam (Broken up into the Viet Minh, Viet Cong, NVA and PAVN units depending on timing)
South Korea
Laos
Cambodia
Australia
New Zealand
Generic Pro-West (Hmong Guerrilla's after 1976)
Generic Pro-East (Khmer Rouge and Pathet Lao)

With these countries, we should be able to depict most, if not all, of the requests so far.
