The Oscars? You mean Hollywoods' annual self-congratulatory reach-around masturbation orgy of people who are seldom as interesting as the parts they play.

No...I'm not watching  :buck2:

DoctorQuest

Meh. Watched last night's Mythbusters and finished "You Only Live Twice" as part of my 007 restrospective.

Saw Chris Rock's opening monologue.  Thought it was pretty f'd up that there were a room full of people clapping to Grandma being lynched.

I quite enjoyed him absolutely slamming Will Smith and his wife.

Beyond that, I couldn't care less about the damn Oscars. I don't understand why we still treat these things as relevant. Nobody remembers any other award show, but we care about these stupid things because...reasons, apparently.

I've never heard the term "gender confirmation surgery" before today, and even though I was only half paying attention, I heard it at least twice.

I did get to hear diCaprio babble about his horrible experiences in my home town, when a chinook wind forced him to up stakes and go to South America to find snow. Only the way Leo tells it, the chinook winds that are a well known meteorlogical phenomenon and have been for centuries here, are somehow evidence of massive "global warming."

Way too much politics. I mute out the acceptance speeches because I don't care about any of the people that are getting thanked. If I would have muted the political parts, all that was left were the commercials...

I saw about 20 minutes of it, after we turned off Arrow (bingeing on Netflix) and before I hit the hay (I'm still sick and need the sleep).

Saw the Minions give out the animation awards - that was actually cute.  Saw the Star Wars droids on screen.  I think they were giving out composing/score awards or something.  Didn't stick around for that one.

Were the Oscars on last night? Is David Letterman still hosting?

the one other bit I did see was when Chris Rock brought his kids out to sell Girl Scout cookies to the crowd.  That was genuinely pretty damn funny.
