My daughters are mildly interested in HP. We may pick up the first book to read together and see what happens. They both are interested in seeing the Fantastic Beasts movie.

We can't live under the threat of a c*nt because he's threatening nuclear Armageddon.

Like I said - shit gets dark pretty fast, though the first couple of books are pretty enjoyable fare. By the third book (I think that's Prisoner of something-or-other, I'm too tired to look that up), it starts to lose its 'childish' charm and takes a pretty demented and at times depressing turn. I'd read 'em again, if I had time.

I refuse to see anything in the theater ever again that has a death star.  I'm tired of death stars.  Do something else.

I keep getting the sneaking suspicion the Star Wars series is beginning to target Chinese movie audiences more, like all those recent soulless "reboot" movies.

I think the Star Wars franchise will resist turning into Independence Day: Resurgence for awhile, since domestic box office still kills for anything Star Wars.  But if that ever slips....

Silent Disapproval Robot

The X-Wing minis nerds are all aflutter because they are convinced that one of the ships from both the minis game and the Disney cartoon series appears in the trailer for 1/12th of a second.

The billion or so wallets in China are a very lucrative target for the movie weenies stateside. They've pandered before and won't hesitate to do it again if it means adding a few hundred million to their totals.

Indeed.

That has increasingly been the Hollywood trend.

People are writing books and publishing stories about it, even.  Obviously it's much easier to please the newer, less jaded, moviegoers in China than those of us who've seen it all in the past four decades.

Someone should make a movie about it.

Harry's godfather, sent to quite literally a living hell for having betrayed Harry's parents to their deaths, manages to escape somehow and hunts him all year while a werewolf tries to murder Harry & Co. and a beloved pet is slain -- while another beloved pet turns out to be UNSPEAKABLE SQUICK! All this comes to a climax at a "shrieking shack".

Also, teenage hormones start kicking in.

The movie adds furtive sex against a wall in a corner, and a grimdark color pallet which only darkens as the series continues.

Everything I just typed is one hundred percent true.

Worth noting, this is also the only book/film without Voldemort per se.

It wasn't a BAD movie, no. Just...it took a turn, you know?

Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

You would know better than I.

Though I bet it would make a good Netflix documentary.
