Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

OK. My take. Very good movie but not great. The movie moves very fast and covers a lot of ground quickly so you don't get enough time to really care about the characters the way you would in a Marvel film or even "The Force Awakens". So there's no real since of loss when anyone gets wacked. But there's lots of action, great scenes with lots of familiar old faces, and the end manages to hit you with some unexpected turns and lifts the movie to a very good ending. I'd put it in the top 3 but not the best of the bunch. But a damned fine first attempt at a new look at an old story and well worth seeing. I'd go a solid 7.5 out of 10.  \m/

Just got back from seeing it...not really sure what to think. I think it was better than The Force Awakens, that's for sure, but didn't think it was as good as any of the original trilogy movies. Very solid 'meh' movie. A lot of things about it that bothered me greatly, which I won't get into because spoilers.

40Jr was unimpressed with it, while I squeed because it was basically a Star Wars war movie. He didn't like it because SPOILER ON every main character in the movie dies SPOILER OFF unless they happened to appear in an other Star Wars movie. And there was no appearance from Admiral "It's a trap" Akbar.

But the raid sequence when the fleet arrived, I shot a metaphorical load.  :dreamer:

I knew it was coming because some little girl was whining about it as she was leaving the theatre. 40Jr. had the same gripe. But Leia did say something along the lines of "a lot of people died to get these plans."

Welll that line was in Jedi about the Bothans,but I wasn't expecting a very good outcome in this one either.

Drink a lot of liquor the night before.  A long bender.

If you do it well enough, you'll be so dehydrated at the theater the next day that you'll be able to make it all the way through.  Despite drinking an overpriced beverage the whole time.
