I seem to recall that Horner's theory (dinosaurs became birds), despite popular acceptance, has already been rejected pretty decisively by the majority on paleontologists and related scientists, after a few decades of study...?

Be that as it may, genetically deforming a chicken doesn't make a dinosaur in any way, shape, form, or fashion.  ::) :P Horner himself ought to be well aware of that.

In hindsight, I'm pretty sure I have the wrong show in mind. I think there was a similar SMK show somewhat based on Gilligan's Island about a pair of hapless not-astronauts who find the brontochicken (which in my mind is connected with the "I said Lunch not Launch!" of the main plot rationale recapped in the opening credits).

That's the one! The brontochicken (which was of course borrowed and modified from Land of the Lost normal brontos) had to be on one of those shows.

And while I'm passing near the subject, I'll lament as I normally do what a damn waste of potential the LotL movie (and 90s series) was. The original show had some freaking hard sci-fi teeth. (Up until season 3 anyway; notably the original writing crew weren't involved in that.)
