not every attack has to be a goal to watch an entertaining game, its about the attempts, the fight and espeically the spirit.

Germany vs Slovakia was an very entertaining match and only had 3 goals
the England vs Island match was also very good to watch and enjoy ...the fighting spirit of those Vikings, just gorgeous!
(when i saw Birkir Bjarnason storming over the field in full speed to intercept an English man i almost saw for a blink the round buckle shield in one hand an the viking sword swinging in the other and he looked like a young Nordic god Thor impersonating storming into Ragnarok battle)

and compared to American Football there are no commercial breaks, long minutes of boredom, a short burst of brawling action (the actual play) follewd by long minutes of boredom... 4 x 15 min clock-time stretched over 3-4 hour 'watch time'

a good soccer match is for the spectator 45 min of constantly  'in the flow' and tentions were you don't even dare to leave the room for a second too go to the fridge for a new cold one or taking a leak.  sometimes the match is so intense that the TV station don't even be able to show the short replay of a goal or a corner with form more then one camera angle because the next dangerous attack is already rolling in  and the other camera replays had to wait minutes for an offsite to be strawn in.

Blimey Mike you should be a rugby fan with that passion!

It would be great for Germany to field a team making the 6 Nations competition a 7 nations contest. I think with your admiration of the Viking spirit, you'd love it, especially the shield wall tactics of the scrums. Sometimes it's like watching the clash of armies.

I admit I am biased that I'd rather watch rugby than football, not to put football down though. I just feel there is more action in it, as more of a contact sport without the "cry baby" attitudes of todays footballers. Perhaps, I'm a cultured hooligan at heart? ;D

If there's a more boring sport to watch than soccer, I haven't found it yet.   ::)

surfing

...is like country fair electric bull riding contest just with men in wet suits and replacing the bull with the sea and the spectators at the beach need binos to see more then a few lengthy bobbing pixels who sooner or later tumble in a wave...always.   Isn't it >:D

For me it has to be the repetitive stuff: Tennis and cricket. The perfect cures for insomnia. ;)

Cricket offers a bit of curious fascination for those of us in North America because we have no goddamn idea what in the Hell is happening.  ;D

Sir Slash

And I have yet to see a cricket involved at all in any game I've watched. I thought maybe that's what they were throwing the ball at. But no, nothing. Very suspicious.  >:(

Ok, nothing is more boring than soccer, but I think we can all agree that it would be 500% cooler if there were random shark attacks during the match,
