When I look at all the extra 'marker' counters, cluttering and covering the combat units in the GBoH series, I wish they were smaller & less physically obstructive.

Frustrating having all that clutter on and around your units, when trying to get a wider picture of the location and facing along the battle lines.   :tickedoff:

Same often goes for other systems on the maneuver-level battle scale.  The extra war between informational counters and the actual combat units, fighting for visibility.  :knuppel2:

Litko sells those clear plastic markers of various shapes, sizes and colors that I'm seeing some people use.  I've been thinking of picking up an assortment of them for some of my games.

You can also buy bags of 250 or so tiny tile dividers for about $3. That's what I did and have painted them in 4-5 different colors so far. They're useful for all sorts of games. At WBC last week I saw people were using them and had come up with an even simpler solution to colorizing them. Colored felt tip markers! Probably took a quarter of the time as my painting did.

If you go that route, it might still be a good idea to wash/rinse them and allow them to completely dry before marking. Also, I've heard that tweezers save you from getting colored fingers.

GBOH is one of the worst for marker clutter. Might have to try some of these tile divider things.

They're listed as "Tile Spacers" if you're searching the web.  1/16" size would definitely free up some counter faces.

Now to find out how many different colors of permanent marker we can find.  :))

Good suggestion Ubercat.

I had definitely considered drastically cutting down the Cohesion hit counters in GBoH.  Placing them underneath the units still forces you to pick each one up to see it's status, which is inefficient as hell.  But, even cut down to a hypothetical half-size, they'd still be a bit obscuring.  Plus the amount of counters to cut four sides from?  In multiple GBoH games?  Talk about "abuse" - to myself!

I'd think that it would be easier to just put a whole bunch in a box and spray paint them all at once, no?

Wouldn't they dry up all stuck together?

It might be easier to use some kind of ionic dye that soaks into the plastic. Soak them a while in hot dye, then rinse them with cold water. You could try the stuff deadheads use for tie-dying.

I think Cyrano might be the next YouTube sensation.

He can film himself going to used book stores and thrift stores, finding awesome wargames, then taking them home and slowly mutilating the counters, all the while going "ahhhhh" as if he let out a long, wet fart. :)

I mean laid out in a box.  I have several old pizza boxes that I keep for use for spray painting things, they work great.

I'm wondering if I should buy an injection molding machine and make a killing selling different colored plastic tile dividers to wargamers. I want to cash in on some of that money Oregon Laminations is making!

Some kind of hot die-cutting machine might be better, or a sheet stamper you can load with a heated custom face die. Then you can sell tiles with 'PANIC', 'DISTRUPTED', and whatnot else stamped right onto them.

While I'm joking about mass production, this IS the first thing I've seen that makes me want to buy a 3D printer. Adding lettering is a great idea Stagger, and makes the 3D printer idea even more attractive for small batch stuff.

The only reason I'd currently have for buying a 3D printer would be for making various terrain fluff for Frostgrave mini battles.  But you can just buy the end product for cheap anyway.
