The CK2 DLC is also on sale/half-price at both Steam and GG.  Steam is cheaper by a penny tho... :P

Is any of the CKII DLC worth getting?

Not yet.

The upcoming Sword of Islam expansion (big DLC?) could be, however.  It adds playable Islamic factions, and has some other additions.   8)   Can't say much more since I just started testing it.. sworn to silence.  ;)

I am looking forward to that.  Although I haven't played alot of CKII lately.  If you can say anything please do but if you can't I understand.  Should I wait for this DLC to come out before starting a new game or should I just go ahead and start a new game?  I probably won't play a Muslim faction but I understand they will also being adding other fixes and improvements.

Well after spending a few hours going through the tutorials and dabbling with Scotland, I can confidently state that I haven't a clue as to what's going on.

Now I supposed I'll have to engage in stupid reading to learn how to play this beast.

I was in the same boat when I first started playing the game.  I looked around the web and found some useful tips and through trail and error eventually figured out what I was doing ... I think.  :o

However, now that I haven't played it in several months it is going to be just like starting over for me...  I am sure I forgot everything I thought I knew about the game.

:P   ;D

In all seriousness, now.. isn't there some Beginner Tutorial vids on YouTube that some people have sworn by around here?  Pretty sure there had been some links posted before.

You'll be fine starting a new game right now.  If you're like me, you'll end up regularly trying different locales, anyway.

The expansion isn't some re-imagining, but adds a couple new factors to the gameplay.  One is related to Muslim dynasties (and I hope it's given to Christian ones, too) and the other gives more varying abilities to leaders that effect their Wing/Flank command abilities in varying good or bad ways.   Those are a couple of the major features, and they've been vaguely mentioned already so I'm not releasing the Top Secret Ninja Hounds with that info.

The expansion was announced to be released within the next month so you'll still have some time to get familiar & try different stuff out if nothing else.  The large majority of the gameplay will still be the same.

Toonces

There's like a 16 part noob guide on Youtube.  I watched the first two videos and it was very helpful.  Linky:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTsCxzmZIWc&list=FLj-vyGatZSzzekcATdxJShA&index=7&feature=plpp_video

Now this is part 2, but you should be able to find whatever part you need easily enough...unlike Minecraft.  Good lord.  I bought it for my son the other day (10 y/o).  So he wants to install a mod called Herobrine whatever that is.  So he tells me to go to Youtube to find out how to do it and man alive I can't believe some of the shit on there.  And he's watching this crap?  Most annoying videos ever.  Seriously, nobody under the age of 21 should be allowed to upload to Youtube.  I realize that won't solve the problem, but it has to help somewhat, right?

TheCommandTent

Thanks for the link, I'll have to give that a watch.

And yes I agree most of YouTube is filled with complete morons.  But like so much else in life if you want to find something worthwhile and helpful you usually have to dig through a pile of crap.

This game's stupid.  It's supposed to be all historically accurate and junk but it's totally not!

I'm playing as King Braveheart of Scotland (except they don't even call him that.  They use like German or something call him Earl somethingorother) and I've been playing for like, 45 minutes and I still haven't found my first loot drop.

If this is sooo historically accurate then how come I still haven't found King Arthur and his 3 musketeers yet?  GHEY!  I should totally have taken his magic sword Mandalay Bar or whatever and then teamed up with Jesus to go and clear Attila the Hun's mongol ninjas out of the Holy Land.

Pfft!  I bet none of the developeres has even been in the parking lot of Medieval Times, let alone taken in a show.  Pathetic.

And why the hell can't I control King Braveheart during the fights?  THis game totally needs more powerups, combo moves, crafting, and quick time events.
