i have to admit im not enjoying this season at all, its almost like the writers decided they could use the total shock and horror of the first episode to excuse not having to write anything else at all - literally nothing has happened, its the first time ive let episodes back up on sky instead of watching them and waiting for the next one with great anticipation

Interesting you wrote that- the first thing that popped in my mind....I can and have binged watched entire seasons but doing that this season would put me to sleep. 

Also sad they did something with the secondary characters after the first episode of violence porn but did absolutely nothing with Maggie. Barely appears in this season. Carol has come to her senses was okay but took far too long. Wasted daryle the entire season. really wasted all the main characters. Okay two bottom rune characters want to band up and kill negan? Well do something with it already. we know it'll end badly as they are disposable.

The show was always far better than the comic because as far as characters go it ignored the comic. In all honesty the comic has a lot of awful crap in it and the show has always been better when it veered off from it. Sadly here because the writers have no ideas they stick with it and throw in tired TV writing tropes---at least no cliff hanger here.

Next season they need to dispose of Negan early on. A season opener and then get on to better things. If they waste another season on it the show will die a more horrible death than Glenn.

I enjoyed last night's episode while the episode the week before was awful. It's been more hit and miss than any season since two, I think. Still, Morgan and Carol's arc last night gives me hope for a dramatic upturn.

You didn't dig The Jungle Fever episode?

Indeed. the last episode was pretty good--but seemed as something we should've seen around the 6th episode instead of a season finale. Morgan and Carol's arc was really the only interesting character development of the season. And that used to be the show's main strength. Also again not paying the comic any attention as in that Carol is long dead and never was badass and Morgan was never a significant character. They really were about the only thing that kept this season from being a 2 star rating.

You didn't dig The Jungle Fever episode?

The chemistry between the two seems forced, entirely too "made for TV". It's easy to see where they would have come together as a couple, giving all that's passed between them, but the actors simply have no spark together unless it involves exploding zombie heads. It's funny because both actors are capable of carrying a scene or episode, but somehow it doesn't translate well into on-screen intimacy with them.

Agree Steelgrave. not sure if it's the fact they glossed over it without exploring it in a couple episodes or what--but I don't see it panning out as it doesn't seem to work. In a carnival scene as an example-and it looks at first the zombies got Rick-I was a little dissapointed when he did the jack-in-box routine. i said, "damn. he's alive!"

I agree that this season has been lame.  So the good guys (Rick and his crew as the sharks) are growing a pair and getting ready for revenge against the bad guys (Neegan and his crew as the jets).  Rick is scrounging for guns and getting his posse together for the big showdown.  I'm expecting to hear "Eye of the Tiger" played some time soon.

Meanwhile, there's no tension, and not much plot.  You've got the king with his tiger and Jesus on the fence about joining, and the garbage-dump people with no personality.  Rick and Michonne are having a fun time romping in the haystack while on their quest for guns.  Carol has found herself a nice little cottage in the countryside.  Not sure what's happening back in Alexandria with Maggie and the rest of the folks there.  All-in-all: yawn.

Just about done with the most recent episode (Bury Me Here) and it is by far the best episode of this half season. Digging the Jungle Fever between Carol and Morgan.

This is the Carol and Morgan we need to see, not the navel-gazing, soul-searching Carol and Morgan of late but the "I can kill everyone all by myself" folks we love. It's the Apocalypse, people, get you kill on.

This whole episode "The other side" only seem to point out how willing the writers are to spend enormous amounts of time on subbar characters and so liitle on the remaining main characters. Are we really caring for either Sasha or Rosita?

Rosita's time with Abraham was underwhelming and sasha has what? 3 weeks with him. Are we to believe this worthy of suicide missions?  As motivation, it is ridiculous. Which suggests that the TWD's producers weren't expecting Sonequa Martin-Green to be cast as a lead in CBS Access' new Star Trek series this Fall.

I can't pretend to care much about any of it. did anyone else notice that Rosita tried to hotwire a car that had two doors left open long term? She knows everything? Really?!

2 more to the final. Expect more lame cliffhangers.

I just want to see more of the junkyard group, that Jaden women kicks so much ass.

They split up too many characters, tried to give them backstory, but they haven't realised yet that four episodes of that in a row is really bloody BORING.

I mean they did realised it, but now it's too late now they tried to shock us with negan, which is successful and why we are still watching the boring shut for the inevitable shootout

The thing I don't like about that group is it seems too out of place (time?). I think it would take a lot longer for vocabulary to change after the apocalypse. They are more like a Gamma World Cryptic Alliance than a group of survivors.
