What Star Wars RPG system?  We play the FFG system, but frankly I find the deterministic dice rolls in a d20 system much easier to deal with as a gm.

FFG, of course!

I think the dice system is a pretty good brainstorming narrative tool for the dice rolling situations.  Just takes a little time to get in the flow.  Getting the players to also participate in the narrative interpretation of them is getting over the bump, and lessens the load.  :nerd:

Yeah.  We played the beginner boxes to start out with and those are really great for new players to the system.  I'd recommend going that route to teach them the system.   The problem with interpretive dice rolls is that EVERY roll becomes an improv session, so if both players and GM aren't into that it becomes very tedious very quickly.

Frankly, I'd rather start out with the similar, but older, system in Warhammer Fantasy RP 3rd Edition.

While there are often more dice in each roll, and more factors adding/subtracting them, the varied results are more straightforward & listed directly on the cards.  Makes for a lot of extra text on ability results, so I guess that's why they went with all those cards & such; to keep character sheets from being four pages long & full of the different dice results.  But it's still more varied & detailed than Pass/Fail/Crit results.

But the Star Wars IP is a pretty big thing with 'em.

I installed Battle of Britain 2: Wings of Victory and managed to get the latest upgrade for it installed, 1.13 I think.  But I still get this weird tearing when I pan the view, and I can't find a v-sync setting which is what it really appears to need.

Can't you force it to use v-sync with the video card software (e.g. AMD Catalyst / Crimson) ?

Toonces

^ Not sure, but that's worth trying.  I'll see if I can figure it out.

I think you need to play some Gears of War / Shadow Warrior 2 / Postal to wipe the stench of the last one off ;)

J/K - I wish I can find a game that interests my wife enough to play with me.

Few tequila shots helped to dance without feeling the pain of this game, also I wiped the stench with a lot of hours playing Arma 3... I am glad that my wife played something related to video game finally, it is much better signing and dancing to Abba every weekend.

We all do.  Just because it isn't always accompanied by music, doesn't make it any less true ;)

It was flight sim Friday in casa Toonces.  Man alive did I play the hell out of WOFF last night!  Great game.

I also futzed around with BMS Falcon, and I did some multiplayer ROF on the New Wings server. I saw Father Ted on there for a while, but didn't run into him in the air.

Today I'm going to work on getting CLOD fixed up with the Team Fusion mod.  From what I've seen, there is some complexity to overcome learning to fly that one.

WOFF though, man there were some white knuckle fights.  I got into one where I was chasing one of those British bombers and I followed him too long and got jumped by 3 French Nieuports, I think.  I'm circling with those guys a while and finally one of them gets a pilot hit on me, blood splatters all over my goggles.  So I point my nose at the ground, pull out at the last second, chop throttle and go to ditch...actually touch wheels to the ground and realize I'm still alive, my plane still works, and that Nieuport broke off, so back to full throttle and I scoot home.  Damn!

Been playing some Marvel Ultimate Alliance this AM with my son. Kicking the crap out of Doom bots never gets old.

Also played a game of General Quarters on Friday night (naval minis game). Did a Dogger Bank scenario. Lots of fun, but a couple of guys had to bail early and the game fizzled out before a decision was reached.

Yep, spotted you on the server.  I think we were on the same side so there was no possibility of Grog on Grog action.  I'm usually on the NW TS server, so if you see me on again drop in.

Are the ROF Full Realism servers still steady with some players too?  Last I visited, there were usually at least a dozen players on during prime time.  Much fun.
