No not really, but you have to admit being eaten alive by a pack of wolves would be horrible.

Or Zombies.   :hide:

Or the ultimate nightmare, Zombie Wolves.

I think the point was that bison...or perhaps Bison...is a douche.  And yes, any sort of zombie hybrid would be horrible.

Gusington

Wolves are hunters right? Not scavengers like coyotes? So I think that fear of being devoured by wolves, or anything really, is pretty bad. Torn limb from limb, bleeding out...that sort of thing.

Bison

^ Exactly and to throw salt in the wound they single out the weakest for their next meal.  How's that for a kick in the face?  Your last thoughts are "Oh shit I'm being eaten by a pack of ravenous wolves!  They chose me because I was the weakest link in the herd!!! OUCH!!!!!!!"

Gusington

Insulted and thusly torn to shreds for it.

I've had a few relationships like that.

Clearly Disney lied.  The circle of life sucks.

No, we don't see the end of the video. So I'm thinking the wolves probably just gave the bison a good-natured wedgey and an Indian Burn and then they all laughed it off. Probably just a pre-rehearst tourist stunt for the cameras is all. We all know everything in Nature lives in complete harmony with everything else. Besides, the Bison probably started it.

Clearly Disney lied.  The circle of life sucks.

Actual Disney movie, Never Cry Wolf, about actual Smithsonian researcher Farley Mowat going up north in the 60s (iirc) to study wolves in the Arctic and his colorful adventures, based on his autobiographical memoirs of the same name. (I found the book in UTK's library in college; it's just as interesting as the movie.)

Highly instrumental in changing the popular perception of wolves to be noble, basically harmless animals.

As much as I like the book and the movie both, my BS detector pegs hard on the misunderstood harmlessness of wolves. ;)

(Note that while I might be misremembering the Smithsonian connection, Mowat basically lied out of his ass in order to create a 'helpful' myth, leaving future readers to debate how much of his story was based on actual research, whether his or others'. So... so I'm granted a pass on whether he was commissioned by the Smithsonian or not. So there.  :P )

Bison

They might be noble (I actually think they are amazing animals), but a hungry wolf pack still needs to eat...

JasonPratt

Well, it was the harmlessness I pegged on, not the nobility. ;)

Scared the crap out my kids :)

Don't blame them. Coyote howls are pretty freaky.

Living on the ranch, down in the hills of Jed Clampettland, there were multiple different packs in our area.  They'd be screaming all over the place, when the moon was up & bright.

Sounds like women screaming from a distance sometimes.   :crazy2:

I'd occasionally see one of the dumbasses running down the road, or along a fence line, in the day time.  They weren't too stupid, though, because they'd be off like lightning if they caught sight of you coming out a door.

Sir Slash

Here in Florida Coyotes are everywhere now days. They're even getting over to the barrier islands on the coast and eating the Sea Turtle eggs out of their nests. We may have to change the state emblem to an Indian girl watching a steam ship go by while a coyote is chewing on one of her legs.
