Was doing what I know a lot of the rest of you do, stare at my Steam Library and wonder, 'what game am I going to play?'  And while I was looking, I started noticing the time I had put into each game.  The top two should surprise noone who has even a passing familiarity with my preferences:  Civilization IV: Beyond the Sword and Warlock: Master of the Arcane.  But some of you might be surprised at what comes in three through five, so, I decided to post it and ask my fellow Grogs, 'What fills in your top 5?'

1)  Civ IV: BtS  1024 Hours (and that doesn't count the time I have in from the years before I had it on Steam).

2)  Warlock - Master of the Arcane  557 Hours

3)  Crusader Kings II  191 Hours

4)  Europa Universalis 106 Hours

5)  Age of Wonders III  91 Hours

So, sound off Grogs!  Whatcha got?!!
And the One Song to Rule Them All is Gimme Shelter - Rolling Stones

Great thread. Here are mine. I have to admit I'm fairly new to Steam. I wonder how many of those hours were when I drifted off to sleep?

3)The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim    63 hrs on record

4)Arma 3      45 hrs on record

Men of War AS2....love that editor....if I new how to use it properly. Something about 100 Tigers vs 500 Sherman's makes me tingle down there!

I have some long-played games that aren't on Steam.  But here are the top ones I own on Steam:

Dungeons of Dredmor    =  210 hours

Total War: Rome 2         =  181 h

Rise Of Flight                  =  114 h   *see below

Europa Universalis 4      =  113 h

Total War: Shogun 2      =    75 h

*NOTE:

My Crusader Kings 2 play time is split, as I put in over 100 hours for Closed Beta and the first couple DLCs.  It was a completely separate download, and was likely reset at some point, too.  Plus another ~18 hours after I eventually purchased the retail version.

It would've taken at least 3rd place.

Apparently I really like Total War...

Empire Total War - 341 Hours
Rome II Total War - 227 Hours
Fallout 4 - 223 Hours
Fallout New Vegas - 203 Hours
X-Com Enemy Unknown - 183 Hours

I thought the old Insurgency mod was my most played but it looks like ARMA 3 takes that title.

ARMA 3                                               582 hr
Insurgency (the mod, not the new one)  499 hr
Rocket League                                      481 hr
Tabletop Simulator (to my surprise)        137 hr
iRacing (only since I linked to Steam)      116 hr

Many more hours on iRacing before I linked my Steam account to it.
I have way too many games in the <10 hours category, and more in the <3hr category.

Most played ever is probably a toss between Air Warrior and Ultima Online, with guest appearances by WWIIOnline, Planetside and the old Multiplayer Battletech Online on Kesmai.
It's funny cause I think I play an awful lot, but I think anymore I spend far more time reading about games online than actually playing anything.

Crusader Kings II : 435 hr
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare: 384 hr
Napoleon: Total War : 146 hr
Mount & blade: with fire and sword : 118 hr
War of the Roses: 111 hr

The last time I booted up CK2 was on 27 August 2016
The other games on the list I guess last time I looked at them 3 years ago or more.
I am not interested to play them again anytime soon, maybe CK2 after a some patches.
Most of my play time recently (or of this year) is with Slitherine games, AGEOD, Arma 3 and some other strategy games.

  • Mafia II - 280 hours
  • Skyrim - 124 hours (mostly kids, not me)
  • Plants vs Zombies - 113 hours (mostly me  ;D )
  • Project Cars - 88 hours
  • Far Cry 3 - 86 hours
Special mention for F1 2016 which is 6th on my list with 86 hours...which I mention because Skyrim is definitely not my playing time

I wouldn't put an awful lot of weight into Steam and it's stats...F1 2016 has me making an achievement for Keep it Clean in March - the game wasn't even out in March  :idiot2:

A nice thread indeed. I came late to steam.

- Horizon - 113 hours
- Grand Ages: Rome - 71 hours
- Omerta - City of Gangsters - 43 hours (should be about 90 hours because i played the first campaign on GOG but there was bug in that edition)
- Endless Space - 36 hours
- Grand Ages: Medieval - 31 hours

Some games should be on top of that list but i played them a lot before i had them on steam as well: Armada 2526 Gold (at least 200 - 300 hours) and Imperium Romanum (at least 100 - 150 hours).

On GOG, i have 105 hours for Master of Orion CtS

Not as impressive in the numbers department as I'd imagined it would be.. but there is a striking pattern showing up, in that I seem to gravitate towards MMO style titles.

Warhammer 40k Dawn of War II - Chaos Rising - 50 hours
Mount and Blade Warband - 50 hours
Planetside 2 - 48 hours
Elder Scrolls Online - 44 hours
Dragon Age Origins - 42 hours
Star Trek Online - 39 hours
The Secret World - 39 hours
Champions Online  - 38 hours
Dungeon of the Endless  - 36 hours
Marvel Heroes 2016 - 24 hours
Tales of Maj'Eyal 23 hours

Plus I spend a lot more time on console gaming than I have on PC gaming for the past 10+ years.

I'm ashamed there isn't a single wargame amongst them. But then it's only recently-ish that any of Slitherine or Matrix titles have his Steam in any way.

FlickJax

oh ho, this might be telling for me will check when I get home from work but i think it will show I play games way too much!!

Not so impressive hour count as some of you, for me either, but here goes:

Battlefield: Bad Company 2 - 141 hrs
Arma 3 - 86 hrs
Assetto Corsa - 42 hrs
Rome 2: Total War - 37 hrs
Test Drive Unlimited 2 - 27 hrs
RaceRoomRacingExperience - 27 hrs
Shroud of the Avatar - 26 hrs

Funny thing that BF:BC2 tops the list. The other games in the series aren't on Steam or I've never played them via Steam, but I am sure they would top the list all in a row if I've had. :)

Distant Worlds only shows 15 hrs, but I have put in way way more before I activated it on Steam.

Also, CMANO isn't in the list of top games played, but -like DW- I've spent lots more time with the title prior to activating it on Steam.

I would have thought I'd spent more time in Rome 2, though. I really like that game and it feels like I've spent a lot more with it. I need to get back to that one for sure.
I am also surprised Stellaris doesn't show up. Aparently haven't played it as much as I thought.

Fun thread! But results show a skewed image of my actual playing habits.

DCS: World is probably my all time most played game ever, but I don't have it on Steam.
As goes for Steel Beasts Pro PE. :)
