Dune TV series

For all those Firefly and Star Trek fans who want something different.
Hopefully, they won't let David Lynch near a typewriter this time.

There was another pair of Dune movies made about 10 years or so back that was not nearly so baroque as the Lynch version.

Those were on  SciFi, right? I saw the first one. Not bad.

There was a 3 part mini-series on Space here (SciFi you lot) for Dune in 2000. Very close to the book. Not as high production value as Lynch's but easier for novices to follow.
There was a second mini-series in 2003 for Children of Dune, actually combining Dune Messiah and Children of Dune. Again very close to the books.

For the record I really enjoyed Lynch's version.  :)

That's an understatement.  Most of the desert scenes were done on a stage.  There was a pile of sand on the floor with the actors and a giant photo of sime dunes on the wall behind them.  The costumes looked like they came from Whoopi's ST:TNG closet.  Lots of hats that looked like shoes on people's heads.

Huh. I'll have to watch the later ones again to see. Maybe my mind was favorably influenced at the time by IPA.

These were 2 mini-serieses.
The first was about the first book, and the 2nd covered both the 2nd and 3rd books.
Each series had 3 long episodes.

And it wasn't that bad.

It'd be interesting to see new proper/b] Dune related stuff come out (not those atrocious "prequels").
Maybe we'll even get a new Dune based video game after all these years :)
