It would be a damn shame if you didn't give Chris Stapleton a try. Good new old school country/southern rock. He's pretty popular with quite a few crowds, not just country. Was a huge hit at Bonnaroo and a few other festivals before getting acknowledged. These are just a few off of a stellar freshman debut. And more importantly, not rap. Can't spell crap without rap.

Hell, he even gets a little bluesy

Ironically, I got very little gaming done last weekend, despite having three nights off (Thursday-Saturday).  I ended up spending most of my time drinking, hanging out with friends, and generally giving the proverbial middle finger to having turned 40.  \m/  I played a little MOO4 and MTW/VI, but that was it (and not much of either one of those, to be honest).

Heh.

If M2TW had never been released I really think I could groove on MTW1 right now.  It seems like a fantastic game.  I have to be honest, though, I can't help comparing the two.

But taken on its own merits, MTW seems like a really good game.  I remember playing it back in the day but being completely clueless...which I still am with M2TW, but at least I understand why I'm clueless now.

Every time I look at re-purchasing the original MTW, just for nostalgic reasons I suppose, there seem to be a lot of problems reported.

Besides all the freezing/crashing reports, I still recall the unit cards at the bottom of the battle screen not showing the unit type graphic.  I remember that bug being a problem over a decade ago, when using newer video cards or some such.  You can even see that bug proudly displayed in the Store Page screenshots on Steam.   ::)

Not enough reason to pick it up IMO.  The bugginess and low-res eye melting gfx would quickly turn my nostalgia sour.  Plenty good to be had with M2TW and up, especially with mods.

If you end up buckling like a belt, then I want to know if you get any of those issues.
I'll not deny it's greatly upsetting when I look in both the official forums and Steam forums and see how at least 90% of the threads are about how people can't run MTW/VI.  Making the game available on Steam was a brilliant idea, but I feel bad for all those folks who purchased it, hoping to either relive their nostalgia or (more rarely) try one of the old greats, only to be denied the pleasure.  :(  I seem to have been born under a lucky star or something in that my current rig has had few problems getting the game to run.

...Which is especially fortunate, as I've always preferred the Risk-style campaign map from the original Shogun and Medieval over the "modern" campaign map from Rome 1 onward.  If I could just combine the newer combat engine(s) with the older campaign map, that'd be just about my ideal setup.
