Reinforcements: Can this only be done in the home territory? Seems like I can't reinforce anything outside of Germany, that would be really tough when deep in enemy territory

Artillery: How does it work, at first I thought I'd just click on enemy unit two hexes away - nothing. Then I thought reading the manual it helps with attacks by other units, but when I do the mouse over prior to the attacks I don't see any indication of an advantage. Am I missing something?

Will probably have more questions if I attempt sea lion. Seems like the manual does not give as much info as it should. So far I'm really liking it, but don't want to make any costly mistakes because I missed something. Like at first I didn't realize you didn't actually have to invade Norway or Denmark if you choose the prepare for invasion option (that one I would've caught in the manual). I'm the guy that likes to just jump in. But the two questions above, not really finding the answer in the manual.

re-reading the manual on reinforcements it says supply can limit this. Is there a cut off number? My HQ is nearby.

Duh ok. .nm.. I fire up the game this morning and reinforcements work fine out of the fatherland. Maybe my supply was too low at that time.

On the Artillery, even though battle predictions show 0 deaths to the enemy, I do see that every time you fire it brings their readiness down. So maybe that is all it does? Or do you sometimes get kills as well with Artillery?

Arty is seldom a kill unit.  It is decisive when you attack fortifications or units that are deeply dug in.  In the Strategic Command WW1 it is almost impossible to take ground in the Western Front without Arty bombardment.

To play strategic command well you must understand the supply and command system thoroughly.  Every time I go back and play it I must refresh my memory.  Units not in command, or worse not in supply are much weaker than those that are.  Attacking across a river without arty support or multiple attacks seldom goes anywhere.  Units may look to be of equal strength, but readiness, supply and command greatly changes the odds.

Hope this helps.  Combat results can be confusing otherwise.

How different is this game from SC: WW I?

I enjoyed that one and played the daylights out of it for quite a while, but ultimately found each game following a very similar course.  And I found the research process not as fulfilling as some games...
