Decades Feeder Bracket - 1989 Round of 16

1989 had a bunch of huge hits in different genres.  Hair metal was still holding on.  Pop music had some infectious grooves.  Rap was becoming a bigger part of the national consciousness.  And big hits by old acts.  I tried to represent a large swath of what happened musically this year.  I am really interested to see what you choose and what you have to say about the matchups and the choices.  Thank you all for being so consistent in your participation.  It really makes this all worthwhile.  Hope you enjoy and have a super difficult time making choices ;)   :bd:

There's a few tunes I might've swapped out here or there, but everything on there is pretty defensible :)
Tough to see Armageddon It on there when that album came out 2 years earlier (yes, I know that it was released as a single this year)

I know what *my* choice for a final 2 would be, so they'll both go out in the first round.

It did make me go "meh".. Guess I stuck to CDs that I liked in those years.

I cannot for the life of me figure out how you guys are supporting 18 & Life over Paradise City...  I get that a lot of people don't like GNR, but that's not even the best Skid Row tune from '89 (I Remember You was a better song, though not didn't chart as high in the US)

Better lyrics?  Check.  Better guitar playing?  Check.  Better rhythm section?  Way check.  Bigger asshole?  Well, Axl is more famous, but he also kissed and made up w/ the band, which Bas has yet to do.
