2000 in film was a somewhat mediocre year for all-time greatest films; there were some good ones, but maybe not all-time greats. Certainly movies that could be re-watched again and again.

Case in point, X-Men. I hesitated including that one in the Sweet 16 as it was not that great of a film, but it was one of the first superhero movies that really kicked off the entire genre. Granted there were other superhero movies out there before this, but this in my mind marked the starting line.

In any case, there were some pretty far and away winners in the 2000 Sweet 16, but there was one time - O Brother, Where Art Thou and Frequency each received five votes, and O Brother won due to its seeding placement. I really like both movies, so win-win IMO. :)

Now, here are your 2000 Elite Eight brackets!

BRACKET ONE: 1 vs. 8

1. Cast Away

8. O Brother, Where Art Thou?

BRACKET TWO: 5 vs. 13

5. High Fidelity

13. Almost Famous

BRACKET THREE: 3 vs. 6

3. Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

6. Space Cowboys

BRACKET FOUR: 2 vs. 7

2. The Perfect Storm

7. Gladiator
