Tamiya 1/48 Bristol Beaufighter

[JudgeDredd]

So I've finished my Jagdpanther and I wanted to go back to aircraft - so it's this baby

[DoctorQuest]

That looks like a nice kit. What paint scheme are you thinking of doing?

[JudgeDredd]

96th Squadron, Scotland 1943 (of course)

[JudgeDredd]

Some progress

Being Tamiya, this goes together very nicely. Not too many parts either  O0

I don't normally bother with the pilot figures - but decided to stick them in as it's such a big cockpit

[MikeGER]

ehmm ...doesn't the backseat gunner looks in the other direction?

in the blueprint he does.

Only if it's the fighter version (option A)

If you look at Section 2 of the instructions, it points out A and B options

[MikeGER]

Ahh! i see you build the fighter version :)

[JudgeDredd]

Nope. The other version. In the fighter version, the guy is facing the rear.  ;D

[MikeGER]

JD, i fear its just the other way around  :-\

A   the bomber has the rear MG
B  the fighter (day or night) has no rear MG

A seat to the rear to grab the gun
B seat to the front, no gun mount canopy

[JudgeDredd]

Ah. I've got my fighter/bomber types mixed up. I'm making option B (Fighter)

[MikeGER]

Phew!  :bd:

[BanzaiCat]

[JudgeDredd]

A slight misunderstanding. Nothing to see here - move along  ;D

[JudgeDredd]

And she's done. No weathering. This baby is brand new off the production line

[Staggerwing]

Looks great!

One question- in the day fighter variant why did the plane need a GIB? Nav? Comms? In the night fighter he'd be the radar operator.
