Silent Disapproval Robot

Released today at the BIS store (coming in a few weeks on Steam and GG).  Looks pretty good.  I hope there's a scenario where you have to fight off a rampaging Winnebago full of Harold Ramises and Bill Murrays as they try to cross the Czech border.

Right there...that scene...is where Stripes went from 'amusing' to 'strange.'

I am kind of glad it won't be out on STEAM for a bit as I just bought the British and Private Military DLC.  I need to play through those first. :)

I couldn't agree more...seemed like there was two parts to the movie and for me that was start of the bad part:)

Gamersgate version is now available for download.   So, I'm downloading.  Isn't that lovely?

Let us know what you think?

Do you play the single player campaigns or get it just for multiplayer?

I mostly play single player.  Apart from our brief stint on DV8's server, I've only played online with the SimHQ crowd.

Right now I am trying to finish up the ARMA II campaign.  I am slogging my way through the 2nd to last mission and its not going well for me.  I may need to start it over as my squad seems stuck and won't follow me no matter what orders I give.

Anyway I've got all the other SP campaigns to play but I'll be interested to see what you think of this one.

I've only done the first mission but it seems interesting so far.  There doesn't seem to be the same level of production as with BAF or PMC.  No opening cutscenes or anything.  You're just taken straight to the map and the mission briefing.  Anyway, the Czech campaign is set in a fictional country that closely resembles the former Yugoslavia.  A civil war has recently ended and your team is tasked with hunting down and rounding up suspected war criminals.

It feels similar in tone to the first COIN campaign in ArmA II.  You're given a map with some suspected locations on it, then it's up to you to take your team out there and complete your mission.  The difference here is that the locals seem to think the guy you're hunting is more of a local hero than a war criminal and are more likely to take potshots at you with their hunting rifles than they are to talk to you.

The more I play of the Czech campaign, the worse it seems to get.  The missions seem to be more suited to Call of Duty than ArmA.  With the exception of the opening mission, they're all very linear and involve waves of enemies being thrown at you.  This being ArmA, it can be pretty tough to survive most encounters and your AI sqaudmates are pretty much dead meat as soon as the lead starts flying.  Also, there are a lot of spelling and grammatical errors in the briefings and the subtitles.

That is disappointing to hear.  I'll probably be waiting to pick it up when there is a really cheap sale.
