It is a glass half full half empty thing to me. Plenty of games have had sequels with more features (CMBO CMBB CMAK) that could not be back ported so you have to buy the new game and live with the old one. To be able to have the new features in the old game for $10 sounds reasonable to some, and better than nothing.

Some people feel that the new features are bug fixes or features that should have been in, in the first place.

It all comes down to a question of how long between releases is it acceptable to charge for an update. 

I'm sure it was much more than a year between each release of the original CM trilogy.   Looks like 2 years in between for the originals.  Aw well, if they can squeeze their steadies for more money than their previous marketing, then they may as well do it huh?  :P

And if it is 10 dollars or any other amount to upgrade - noones going to make you pay.... If you like your cmbn just the way it is don't upgrade

I wouldn't pay $60 for Skyrim brand new. $65 For this one(physical copy) is a bit too steep for me. I'm so way behind on my CMBN games, I think I can afford to wait awhile till the price comes down a little if it ever does. But those screenies have my mouth watering.

I'm a big CM fan going way back to CMBO.  But really can't get myself excited about this one.  Seems like I would be paying full price for what I already have just with different paint jobs.  I will probably get it someday....maybe.  Now Eastern Front, early Western Front (France 40), or Pacific would have gotten me excited!!!

I like WW2 campaigns set in areas like Italy, which are often overlooked unlike the Normandy invasion - Market Garden and the eastern front.  I'm lookiing forward to getting into this one alot.  I am a little off put that they opted to make 3 seperate WW2 series rather than linking them together and making engine upgrades availible as expansion are released.  But that doesn't bother me as much as the thought that there is still the Market Garden expansion for CMBN, but it will most likely require the "non-required" update patch to CMX2 engine upgrades.

So.. are they planning to make Market Garden an expansion of the Italy version?  Or will it be a standalone that they release in 12 months, and you'll have to pay to update your Italy from then on?  :-[

Nefaro my understanding is that CMBN will be "concluded" with Market Garden.  CMFI will have a couple of expansions of its own.  CM Eastern Front will also be another stand alone with expansions.  I'm honestly confused why they insisted on making 3 seperate stand alone games as opposed to a base CM WW2 + the 8 additional expansions.

With that being said I love me some CMx2 engine games and couldn't resist purchasing the game.  Its a beauty.  Smooth gameplay, wonderful new UI and they seemed to have finally figured out shadows.  It really just is a wonderful game and yet it grates on my nerves that this was underdevelopment when Commonwealth was and yet the engine upgrades where not included with CW.  Even more so because what does that mean for Market Garden?  Will it have the upgraded engine or not?  Or will it have the old engine and force you to still purchase the new engine upgrade patch?  Or will it not work unless you first purchase the engine upgrade patch?  And what does that mean for any engine upgrades they present with the Eastern Front series or the new Modern War series?  Also it's a damned shame that the CMSF series cannot be upgraded too.

My understanding is that Market Garden is the second module for CMBN. There will be a third to be determined. You WILL have to purchase the $10 upgrade to get MG and number 3 to work. This has nothing to do with CMFI.

CMFI is already upgraded and will have 3 modules. Buying CMFI does nothing for CMBN.

What is should be is that you can buy the upgrade and not buy any modules or if you buy the modules you get the upgrade free. I guess enough people will pay whatever it takes so BFC can do as they please.
