Great song.

Hells yeah!

FoG:E mp with several folks here.  Gotta work a full day tomorrow though and that leaves Sunday for two days of chores.  So, gaming time will be at a premium.

After reviewing the rules, I"m finally going to get around to playing Combat Commander with a buddy of mine. He has never played the game, so we will be starting with the first scenario, Fat Lipki, which is Germans vs. Russians. It's a good intro scenario for the CC system.

Also, for more mindless fun this weekend, I'll be playing the newly released Season 1 of CoD Modern Warfare.

Finally, if time permits, perhaps I'll start a new game of WarPlan or more Death Stranding.

Happy gaming, Grogs!

Tripoli any other advice for WOFF? I have been trying for many years to get into it but I just suck at the flying. I want to experience the campaign but I find the actual flying flummoxing, to say the least. Been trying for years 😓

My advice would be to learn to fly the machines before doing the campaign.  I know that sounds patronising, but these sims are about actually flying first and foremost, so go back to the fundamentals before trying the combat. Take some time and treat it like you're aiming to get your PPL.  Seems boring, but learning to "fly" will make the game more satisfying

Why I agree that approaching a military flight sim with a mindset of learning to fly like you are getting your PPL is good, some (like myself) want to get into the action right away.  Hence my suggestion to use a Be2 in May or June 1915.  It is a stable aircraft, and there isn't much happening in the sky over France at that point.  The Eindeckers don't show up for another month, and don't really get to the front in quantity for a couple of months, so you have a bit of time in a low-threat environment to get used to flying, but you are still in a campaign.

VERY busy weekend, the Wife's Birthday and grandkids in the local X-Mas parade. So I'll be playing a game I've been slow to learn but now have mastered, 'Dutiful Husband'. And maybe some Combat Mission Red Thunder. Have a great weekend Grogs.  \m/

It's stupid busy with work at the hotel this weekend, so I probably won't have much time for gaming.  :buck2:  Still, I'm going to try...

I'm sure I'll get some time in with Stellaris, as usual.  I'm also feeling a serious itch for some RPG action, so possibly some Neverwinter Nights or Pillars of Eternity is in my future.

Last, but not least, I just picked up the new Strategic Command: World War 1 on GOG.  This series has admittedly eluded me so far, but not for lack of interest.  It looks excellent, and of course one can't have too much WW1 goodness.  :)

Welcome to the party, Martok. I'm getting the new SCWWI just for IronX' mod.

Thanks for the WOFF advice, Father Ted and Tripoli.

The early WWI air war actually interests me the most, around mid 1915. I just have to go in with a more patient mindset. WWI aviation is one of my most beloved historical subjects. It is a total shame it has taken me this long to get into the game.

It is a fascinating period of aviation history.  Like you, I am amazed at the men who flew in those machines.  Have you ever gone to Old Rhinebeck Aerodrome (https://oldrhinebeck.org/) ?  I think it is roughly in your neck of the woods.

Pretty similar boat for me Slash.

Setup for a community fundraiser held by my oldest daughters Girl Scout troop, event was this morning and tomorrow we are picking up our tree.

So limited gaming for me and I need to be out of the house early AM Monday to travel to a plant.
Insert witty comment here.

Correct Tripoli! A few years ago my in-laws even purchased an hour long ride in an antique biplane for me up at Rhinebeck. Scary.

I don't know how the first combat pilots did it. Nerves of steel.

A few years back, I was Stagger's secret Santa.  I had seen a book in a customer's house about a group of Yale students, mad about flying, who went to France to join their Air Corps.  I immediately thought of him and Amazon, I mean Santa, delivered it. I think I've recommended it to you before, and the title escapes me at the moment, but 'Wing is a good fella and I am sure he'll pop by and supply the title for you.  Sounds like something you might be interested in.

Do you have VR Gus?  If so I would spring for Flying Circus. At the moment it is late-war and has little-to-no SP content (though can be generated by free third-party app), but everyone who has VR says it is amazing in terms of the flying experience.
