I don't know what to make of this. Star Wars has been so hit and miss lately. The cut scene looks cool. But at the same time something did not connect with me. Perhaps because I am afraid it will be a miss and have now come to expect being let down by star wars. Maybe it's that Han Solo's replacement does not seem as cool a character.

The remake is being done in Unreal Engine 4, and it's not just a fan project made by enthusiastic amateurs – it's actually being lead by a professional developer at Obsidian. Jason Lewis is Senior Environment Artist at the studio, and has presumably worked on the developer's most recent games, such as Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire and the upcoming The Outer Worlds.

(Reportedly the Ep1 Racer game is getting a full official remake, too.)

Kyle is even being plotted to show up in the new Filoni/JonFav tv or film works going forward.

So a good Solo-like can happen, but this new 'Kay Vess' will have to compete against Kyle, too. And for that matter against the protagonist (whose name I don't recall) from The Outer Worlds who seems like a better Solo-like simply because she's older and more experienced than Kay.

I get what you're feeling, though. Y'know who never said "I've been held back my whole life. But now... I just need a chance... to finally be free"? -- Han Solo. He made his own chances and luck, and got held back by some bad choices and character flaws of his own. I've got mixed feelings about the Solo prequel movie, but they did manage to get that (if I recall correctly) despite being set at a similar age as Kay.

Still, hey, open world SW! -- depending on the writing it could still work, and even if the character doesn't, the setting's still good (between Empire and Return) and the execution could still be good.

You better be able to customize your character. Otherwise, this is a nonstarter for me. I felt the same way about Jedi Survivor. Lack of character customization was a huge miss.

Absolutely agree....although any game related to Star Wars will always be a day one purchase for me regardless:)  Although very interested in this game, so far out there to really get excited right now as it seems the bigger titles always have change in release dates ....

If that pre-rendered cutscene is any indication, there will be some rather hard limits to customization! -- but hopefully as much allowed as, let's say, the Red Dead Redemption series.

If it's reasonably close to that, I'll be fine.

Edited to add: I don't expect it to be like Knights of the Old Republic or, let's say, Dragon Age 1 or 3. Maybe more like DA2...?

Despite the lack of customization I loved Survivor. The thing that gets me on this - the trailer is just that, a trailer. Need me some gameplay footage.
