Just picked this one up, will post impressions when I get the chance.  It's a base-building RTS reminiscent of the classic Sim Ant, though I think it's more modern RTS than classic Sid Meier sim.

A War of a Madman's Making - a text-based war planning and political survival RPG

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

Yep. I remember when this was some sort of early access kickstarter. It looks interesting, but single player stopped me. I actually thought the graphics looked a little dated now possibly because of how long it has been in development.

I got it years ago in early access. Tried it 2 or 3 times over the years and enjoyed it, but it had a lot of development left to go. I keep meaning to reinstall it now that it has reached 1.0 and left early access. There is just soooooo much on my gaming plate now.
