Why do helos fly so differently in DCS and MSFS? They can't both be right.

I have heard that dcs helicopters are harder to fly than other flight sims. Would you agree with that. My chopper flight time in a simulation game is literally dcs and that's it.

I can barely fly in a straight line in e.g. the Hind in DCS. It is hard to imagine that modern helos lack stability systems that make it easier to just not fall out of the air.

MSFS on the other hand is obviously too stabilized. You can even land directly from a hover without any turbulence or other shakeups near the ground.

What peripherals are you using? Have you tweaked your saturation and curves properly?

I have CH products. The F-16 Fighterstick using thrust for collective and their pedals.

I need to restart messing with the curves, true. When I did it improved but I lost my settings on a Windows reinstall.

CH devices are a big part of your problem. when I went from CH pedals to MFG and Winwing, it was a world of difference. Pedals aren't a big factor when flying fixed wing, especially 4th generation and on, but with helos, high quality pedals become infinitely more important. Additionally, although I don't think a good collective is an absolute necessity, they definitely help a lot. I use the Virpil collective and it has really enhanced control and immersion. At a bare minimum though, that CH F-16 Fighter stick is not doing you any favors. Precise control is critical to flying helicopters across all axis and not having precision controllers makes this infinitely more difficult than it should be.

I have second hand CH pedals a mate gave me when a simmer friend of his was throwing them out, one toe brake does not work. Got a flight yoke as well that I have never really used. However I can confirm that the CH is hard to make fine adjustments and hold them with, which is what is needed for choppers. Constant rudder input for any manoever. So I have been doing it the hard way.
