Fight Club International is running a Tactical Decision Game (TDC) using Combat Mission Pro, titled BALTIC SHIELD-Operation PARRY, beginning tomorrow at 1100 GMT.  The game casts you as the Commanding Officer of Task Force Aegis, and it is simple to play. The aim of the game is to produce a set of short written orders for each unit under your command and then enter them in the web form here: https://www.fightclubinternational.org/campaigns/tdg-op-parry

When producing these orders, you need only to consider the scenario summary info found on this webpage and the supporting orders and intelligence materials on the webpage above.
Together, your orders should form an overall course of action that will achieve the objectives stated in the Briefing section below (and elaborated in the downloadable OPORD document).

Fight Club will be collating submissions over the next month, after which a panel of serving & former military personnel will review each player's submission and select those considered to be the most promising.  These will then be executed within Combat Mission: Professional Edition, with the highest-scoring submission being declared the winner.

I wonder what percentage of our new members are bots?  I'd guess over 90%.

why do you say I'm a bot when I'm human, I'm just stating my own feelings

Obviously I was incorrect.   My apologies.  We've gotten a lot of short posts from new members lately.

And surely the invisible color link to this fishing site (hm did I spell that right) means you surely aren't a bot! You have personal responsibility, unlike any bot.  :Nerd:

I disconnected the url for access in my quote by the way, just to be safe.

It makes no difference what men think of war, said the judge.  War endures.  As well ask men what they think of stone.  War was always here.  Before man was, war waited for him.  The ultimate trade awaiting its ultimate practitioner.  That is the way it was and will be.  That way and not some other way.

If they made nothing but WWII games, I'd be perfectly content.  Hypothetical matchups from alternate history 1980s, asymmetrical US-bashes-some-3rd world guerillas, or minor wars between Upper Bumblescum and outer Kaboomistan hold no appeal for me.

I guess it's sort of nice that the word "tactical" seems to refer to some kind of seriousness during your moments of mental clarity.

To be fair to the "math games" genre, one of my favorite series, which culminated with the Pre-Dynastic Egypt and Egypt Old Kingdom duology, got its start there. I still play those regularly for something to do while listening to news or whatever. Their dev actually showed up at Grogheads for some input while in late stages of Pre-Dyna design. I'm glad to give them (and their predecessors) some promotional love whenever I get a chance.

Also, I am not a toaster. So there's that.  :Nerd:  :cylonB:  :cylonA:
