X-COM Preorders

PC or console? What do you guys think I should get?

Believe it or not, I hadn't given it any thought.

I bought it on PC. The game trailer video was made using the x-box version I believe. Looks like it played good.

Considering how quickly people were modding the demo, I'd imagine there's some nice mod potential for the full game. So if stuff like that might interest you, it has to be PC.

It will be interesting to see if the Steam workshop comes into play. And the RPS review has my mouth watering http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/10/08/xcom-review/ I did indeed preorder XCOM, something I almost never do, and I can't wait to tear into it.

Inside 6 hours...

PC version with modding potential is where I'm at. The devs hinted at providing some level of mod support down the road and I expect there will be about a dozen mods my 6am Tuesday morning as those crazy dedicated modders tear into the full structure.

I'm sure I'll look under the hood too at some point. For now I just want to fry aliens.

Of course I had the last 4 days off, back to work tomorrow...was really hoping it would get released at least a little early tonight, but looks like midnight for people in the eastern timezone.

When it went live Steam showed it at 100% and Steam froze, restarted, let it sit for a few minutes and it was good to go.

So even the tutorial missions can be randomized. My second mission is not the same one I got when playing the demo.

So - I know you all want to play but IMPRESSIONS WOULD BE GREAT!

When you've all got some time under your belts I'd like to know things like

• randomisation and replayability of missions
• tactical options
• strategic options
• depth
• variety of missions/locations
