PrON for MAC turned out to be Windows!

A few weeks ago I purchased Pride of Nations for MAC at Gamersgate for the low price of 5.99.  Before I purchased the game I made sure that the version I was buying was indeed for the MAC.  In fact the day I bought the game the MAC version was 2 dollars cheaper than the Windows version.  I made the purchase on my Windows machine. 

Fast forward to yesterday.  Finally got around to firing up my Mac and proceeded to Gamersgate.  I logged into my account and went to my library of games.  There was PrON (MAC) sitting there waiting for me to dl.  I click the download link and what pops up?  An .exe file for Windows and Uninstaller tells me it cannot unpack the file.  When I looked at the game specs I notice that the box art says MAC on it but the requirements spec says operating system Windows!   >:(

I sent Gamersgate support an email last night asking for help but you know, I'm really really pissed that they botched my order like this.  Is it really that hard to purchase an item online and have the correct version shipped?  Makes me wish for the old days when I could walk into a brick and mortar store and get exactly what I paid for.

I feel your pain.  Last month I paid extra for the deluxe version of SH5, but only got the regular.  This was from Gamestop, who kept referring me to Ubisoft.  Ubi had nothing to do with the fact that the link Gamestop provided led to the wrong version.  After some back-and-forth I finally just asked for my money back, and eventually got it.

I recall sending an email to Gamersgate, asking about why their old Sacred Gold sales page displayed the "Sacred Plus" version (an earlier one w/ no expansion pack) instead of the Sacred Gold box; also having a sneaking suspicion that the download was the old 'Plus' version too. 

I got a reply back in a couple days saying they'd check up on it, but never got an update or followed up later.   Hrmm...  Should I spend the time to mess with it again or just wait until a time when I may want to play it again and be forced to wait out the email tag to find out?  *shrug*

Well after almost 72 hours of waiting I got an email from someone over at customer support.  They've added the MAC version of the game to my account correcting my complaint. 

Now if I can pry our MAC from Mrs. W8taminute's hands, I can start playing.  :D

If the MAC version plays anything like the PC one then your Groghead's Handle of W8aminute is most apt.

And for the love of all that is gamey, get the 1.03 update from the AGEOD forum installed before you start a game!

Oh wait.. nevermind.  I don't think AGEOD does the Mac version, so you'll probably still be saddled with the Paradox 1.02 version..  :-\

^^Haven't started a full blown campaign yet but when I do I will calculate the time between turns.  So far I've only played the tutorials.

^Thanks for the heads up.  Maybe the 1.02 patch will be ok with my Mac version?  You've reminded me to check on the version number before I play a real campaign.

Ehhhh.. 1.02 is doable but still has some problems that were fixed in 1.03.  Also, 1.03 added some extra interface goodies, and cut down a bit more on the turn resolution times, along with fixes.
