Dawn of War 1 definitive edition. At least add the tyranids, then it would truly be worth calling detinitive.
They really need the cash injection. This and company of heroes 3 are their lifeline after being cut from their parent company.
It will be interesting to see how this remaster goes though. There is only so much you can get from one game and this game has been the definitive edition even in it's current form.
There are some mods that will benefit I suppose.

I still play the old one with an enhanced graphics mod. It's fine. I mean 64 bit support will be good. But I don't see anything else to write home about.
It's going to have to be very cheap.

They need to add tyranids to give this value.

Don't some of the top-tier mods add tyranids?

Yes, Tyrannids are a basic mod and have been for a long time (oddly never upgraded to a version 1 though.) In effect they're added with other mods like UltApoc, which also features far more Nids than the original mod.

The new definitive edition will still work with most/all mods up to date, and should make modding easier. Probably cleans up networking, and simplifies needing to have four games installed (or doing some hexcode around) to get all the official factions working at once.

I haven't bought DoW in a long time, and I plan to buy this for quality of life promises, and to help support the devs on new work.

There are mods for graphics as well.

Last time I tried the nids mod was a loooong time ago and they were truly a horror to watch. The animations and graphics were abominable. I would prefer a professional nids production that does not break with patches and add new well thought out professional features.

Unless this new version is less than $10aud I don't see a reason to get it.

I can say from some experience that the nids in UltApoc are up to DoW1 standards, as exhibited in the painting system.

That seems a sufficiently qualified statement.

This should be an interesting watch. A presentation by the devs. The game cost $30 US.

I don't think it's a remake. I think it's a remaster. Uuuuusually remasters turn out better than remakes.

Game launched! Some bugs reported in early Steam reviews, mostly involving mods and/or multiplayer, perhaps also scaling. (Some choice lore quotes there, "Hope is the first step on the road to disappointment."    )

Most early Steam reviews are very positive though.

Steam must be selling a bunch of games right now; download for this (and some other games updating) absolutely crashed. {g}
