We call to arms and summon the Saxon band again, we march on Mecklenburg - all of it!

3 days into the attack the HRE also realises theres a huge Duchy with noone defending it, its a race to to a 100% warscore - above i have 28% the HRE has 2%.

I need to split my forces and make sure that im controlling the siege in each province in case the HRE gets in on the action. In the screenshot ive totally occupied Mecklenburg the county, and am now marching toward Werle - im desperate to prevent anyone else starting a siege.

undercovergeek

....and there she goes! The HRE actually posted a negative warscore - he must have lost a battle somewhere. Who gives a crap, ive got tonnes of land!!!!!!!!

This in effect makes me larger than Brandenburg. Picture the scene from Red October when Sean Connery gets out the 'secret plans' from the safe, and now make him a bald German Count...........

Not on a submarine

Great stuff! Always important to keep an eye on other people's wars for your chance to kick them while they're down!  ;)

Now that we have some land, and the increase will make an actual difference, i up the feudal tax to bring in a few more groats and then the province improvement program can begin.

After taking Mecklenburg the demesne count shot through the roof - I keep the county seats and the ownership but let the internal baronies and bishoprics go to very carefully picked council/court members and my son.

You can see on the map the HRE's slipping grasp on the realm - those provinces with borders have declared, and won their independence

lol, yeah, its why i dont understand those guys that play on very fast until the system stops to inform them of a decision - they cant possibly see nuances and instances like this that turn the game in your favour.

The denizens of Mecklenburg are dirty heathens - i have sent the Chaplain to bring Catholicism to the masses

undercovergeek

Well, its time - i feel a bit bad, in the intervening years there have been a lot of Grand Feasts and ive managed to trigger the 'become best friends' twice and the Duke and i share a 100 relationship. Still, he's a Duke and im not, he has smaller lands than me, a smaller army than me and he's in my way to greatness - we declare our Independence...............

undercovergeek

Snigger, my army is twice as big and it seems the Duke has lost Anhalt to the Duchy of Saxony, its a fight for the one province - if i win that i can claim Brandenbug and be holding 66% of its de jure territories that make up the Duchy and take that Duchy too.

Thieving, gypsy bas****!!!! As soon as i declare the HRE moves in and scoops up the Duchy of Mecklenburg, MY duchy of Mecklenburg! Bitterness will reign supreme until this wrong can be righted...............

Holy f*** - i did not expect that to happen. He's granted me the Duchy, solved the War of Independence as making me a Duke disolves my vassalage to the Duke of Brandenburg and thinks im awesome to boot.

I move to fabricate claims on Brandenburg immediately

Im not too happy about the cow blowing a raspberry motif to be honest!

Martok

Well that was a pleasant surprise.  The Emperor must really like you!

Very interesting developments.  This game continues to impress me.

Next on the list is the Duchy of Meissen, here it is highlighted. Once the recently taken lands in Mecklenburg start kicking out some tax and levies we will press my daughter in laws claims on the Duchy
