Barnacles!

How be it possible that we almost sailed past this day without a warning shot over the bow?
All that is gold does not glitter,
Not all those who wander are lost;
The old that is strong does not wither,
Deep roots are not reached by the frost.

someone should re-post this wikipedia entry as follows

QuoteEdwarrd Teach (c. 1680 – 22 November 1718), better known as Blackbearrd, was a notorious English pirate who operated arround the West Indies 'n' the eastern coast o' the American colonies. Although little be known about his earrly life, he was likely born in Bristol, England. He may ha' been a jack tarr on privateer ships durin' Queen Anne's Warr before settlin' on the Carribbean island o' New Providence, a base fer Capt'n Benjamin Hornigold, whose hands Teach joined sometime arround 1716. Hornigold placed him in command o' a sloop he had captured, 'n' the two engaged in numerous acts o' piracy. Their numbers 'twere boosted by the addition ta their fleet o' two more ships, one o' which was commanded by Stede Bonnet, but towarrd the end o' 1717 Hornigold retired from piracy, takin' two vessels with him.
Teach captured a French sutler vessel, renamed 'er Queen Anne's Revenge, 'n' equipped 'er with 40 guns. He became a renowned pirate, his cognomen derived from his thick black bearrd 'n' fearrsome appearrance; he was reported ta ha' tied lit fuses under his hat ta frighten his enemies. ARR!...I'm not attractive! He formed an alliance o' pirates 'n' blockaded the port o' Charrleston, South Carolina. Avast me hearty mateys! After successfully ransomin' its inhabitants, he ran Queen Anne's Revenge aground on a sandbarr nearr Beaufort, North Carolina. He parrted fleet with Bonnet, settlin' in Bath Town, wharr he accepted a royal pardon. But he was soon aft at sea 'n' attracted the attention o' Alexander Spotswood, the Governor o' Virginia. That be handsome Pete! He dances fer nickels! Spotswood arrranged fer a parrty o' soldiers 'n' jack tarrs ta try ta capture the pirate, which they did on 22 November 1718. Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum! Durin' a ferocious battle, Teach 'n' several o' his hands 'twere keelhauled by a small force o' jack tarrs led by Lieutenant Robert Maynarrd.
A shrewd 'n' calculatin' leader, Teach spurned the use o' force, relyin' instead on his fearrsome image ta elicit the response he desired from those he robbed. Contrarry ta the modern-day picture o' the traditional tyrannical pirate, he commanded his vessels with the permission o' their handss 'n' tharr be no known account o' his ever havin' harrmed er keelhauled those he held captive. ARR! I'm a pirate! He was romanticised after his death 'n' became the inspiration fer a number o' pirate-themed works o' fiction across a range o' genres.

A pirate walks into a bar with a steering wheel stuffed down the front of his pants. Bartender says "Hey buddy, you have a steering wheel down your pants". Pirate says "Arrr aye know, it's drivin' me nuts".
