The iPhone killer may be the Samsung Galaxy III S.

QuoteFor years tech pundits have been searching for an "iPhone" killer -- a mythical new device that would dethrone Apple's mighty handset as the most admired or popular smartphone.

It may be already here.

For the first time, Samsung's Galaxy S III overtook Apple's iPhone 4S to become the world's best-selling smartphone model for the third quarter (July through September) of 2012, according to new research by Strategy Analytics.

My experience with the Kindle Fire turned me off a bit to Android. The reason I got a smart phone back in 2007 was to stop having to learn a new and different layout every time I got a new phone. The iPhone may not have all of the bells and whistles but every time I get a new one I just put in my Apple ID and all my shit is exactly where it was on the old one, just faster and better. Now I don't even have to sync it with my 'puter anymore. All I need is wifi and iCloud. It backs itself up every time I charge it overnight.

Maybe if you asked politely?

Amazon is a good example of how many companies heavily modify Android on their devices so they look completely different from one another. I'm no expert on Android at all but I'm guessing that the Nexus tablets are the closest to what Google intended Android to look like and that's somewhat reminiscent of iOS. Also, I've heard many complaints that various apps only work with some hardware and not with others. If it works on an iPhone 4 it'll work on a iPad 2,3, or 4.
