This game shines with Planned Assault mission making tool.

Does this work with iron front?  Didn't see it mentioned on the site.

Actually figured it out and the answer was yes.....

This tool looks amazing especially for people like me who find it hard to use mission editors.....this might be the thing that makes me re-install the game and buy the DLC.

So.....is there meant to be another campaign showing up in the list? I only have the 2x For the Fatherland and 2xFor the Motherland scenarios - so I have NO IDEA if it installed or not

When I bought this last night, the INSTALL button (shown after I had bought it) didn't do anything as I was reinstalling Iron Front 1944...but when I went to the Iron Front D:Day 1944 DLC page, it says "You already own Iront Front : D-Day 1944 DLC" and there's a Play Now button - but there are no other options in the game AND as I said - the install button didn't seem to do anything last night?

Also the editor is only showing Poland and Ukraine and the expansions tab is only showing Iron Front

I don't think this installed...but I can't seem to tell if in game if it is and can't see how to get the install button back!

Any help would be appreciated - so I can get back to Steam.

It's ok. I uninstalled Iron Front 1944 and reinstalled it. There was then an additional DLC option in game which I was able to enable and there are other scenarios showing.

Sometimes the client won't immediately start installing DLC. In that case, just close the client and restart it. Or you can right click the game in your Library, choose Properties, then go over to the Local Files tab and choose Verify Integrity of Game Cache. Either one 'wakes it up'.

Planned assault rules.

I wanted to repeat this for dramatic effect, and because it is very true.

Sometimes I just cannot believe how stupid I am!!

I don't know what they've fixed, but it's not the crappy campaign.

I guess I should've loaded the game and tried the patched version before I gave them more of my money.

Oh well - maybe this time I'll listen to my head "next time"!

That's why Warhead and I are advocating the use Planned Assault. Missions are better than scripted stock ones
IF44 becomes a big sandbox.  I have a blog post and video about this.

Yup, the stock campaigns and most of the official missions are pretty craptacular.

Make your own or play online and it's a hell of a lot better.

Thanks Jomni - I didn't know about that. Hopefully that will help me get some mileage out of this.

The stock game is not a great game - it's broke. It's hit and miss whether triggers work or not. I don't know how manytimes I've played the mission where you unload the PAK...but each time, somewhere where there's meant to be a trigger...it doesn't go off.

With the patched version tonight I waited quite some time (having been given no orders) for the Russian tanks only to have to start running about looking for the trigger. The officer that turns up saying to hold the xroads doesn't leave (as he did last time I played this), I wasn't ordered to go to the windmill (as I was last time) to spot the enrmy mortars,.

I eventually went myself to the windmill only to come under fire from the Russians I knew were there...but this time there were a bunch of Germans up there standing right next to them doing absolutely nothing.

I went to the windmill, spotted the mortars...still no assault. I went back to the xroads...nothing...got bored and started shooting my own troops and exited.

It looks great. As a multiplayer game it may be great. As a sandbox game it may be great...but the campaign (at least the German one I played) is not only not great but doesn't work.

I don't know if we have the same game...but mine is broke!

Like I said, you're playing it wrong.  Use Planned Assault to create missions.  It is quick and so easy, a lobotomized monkey could use it.  The program writes the scripting for you, and with scripting, the combat is much more believable and you don't have to rely so much on the brain dead AI. The campaign and stock scenarios are very loosely scripted and that is part of the problem.  Avoid the stock campaigns and scenarios...they will only frustrate you.  Make a quick mission through the PA website, load it up, then come back here and tell me I was right.
