Hi everyone, they are finally available!

Official announcement will be posted momentarily, but they are now available in the store.

Very important to read the link on how Gift Cards work first:

http://www.matrixgames.com/store/giftcard.asp

Then you can go to either of these links to see and purchase a gift card. They are digital gift cards (via e-mail and printable web page) so they can be redeemed immediately once purchased.

Well after looking into the fine print a little closer, not sure I'd recommend them yet  ???   I'd like to see a little more flexibility.  Some of the not-so-good things that caught my eye:

  • Gift Cards do not apply to shipping charges. These are charged separately by the fulfillment service and at this stage we are unable to include them.
  • Gift Cards are a form of discount coupon. Only one discount coupon can be used in any single transaction. This means you cannot use a Gift Card in combination with any other Gift Card or any other discount coupon.
  • Gift Cards are valid for 1 year after purchase. After this time any outstanding balance will be lost.

QuoteIn 2009, Congress passed the Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure (CARD) Act, which set consumer protections for gift cards based on many state laws. The law provides that gift cards cannot expire within five years from the date they were activated and generally limits inactivity fee on gift cards except in certain circumstances, such as if there has been no transaction for at least 12 months. The federal law creates a floor for regulation and leaves room for state regulation on redeeming gift cards for cash and unclaimed property provisions.

AFAIK Matrix is located in the USA so these rules should apply. If Slitherine is actually the source of the Gift cards the UK law could apply, though calling them 'Matrix Gift Cards' might make that harder to defend.

AFAIK Matrix+Slitherine are wholly UK operations.

Anybody across the pond know the British consumer laws on this?
