Lego Games Thoughts - Don't Laugh:)

Ok, I am likely to be laughed off these boards, but the Lego series of games have always peaked my interested, but never have pulled the trigger. Right now at amazon, a lot of them are on sale including Batman 2 and the recently released lord of the rings for about $8.

So at the risk of being laughed at, has anybody played these games and are they fun to play:)

Considering I just bought one of the Farming Sims I'm really not in a position to make fun... ;)

My son has played the Star Wars ones quite a bit and I have joined him on occasion. They are a lot of fun, especially if you like Legos to begin with. I'm not sure about the gameplay in Lego Batman, Indiana Jones, or the HP series, but the SW games includes combat with pistols and light sabers as well as space ship combat. The opening space combat scene from SW VI is nicely done.

I like the lego games but you need a controller IMO.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that my son and I played on the PS2. I don't know how it would be playing with mouse/keyb.

Thanks Bison...I have a 360 controller so I should be good...more than likely will pull the trigger for some light fun.

BTW, had to ask...how is the farming sim...seen that in some sales but not sure if my kind of game.

I just got it so all I've done so far is drive a tractor around- quite a pain with just the WASD method. Tonight I might try it with a joystick. If I really get into it I'll try it out on my son's racing wheel (which I got from Markshot, thanks again!). It's basically a driving sim with an economic component. You cultivate, harvest, sell, buy better equipment, rinse and repeat. There's a pretty funny video on youtube where some yahoo fires up the game for the first time and just tries to run amok around the landscape in his tractors:

My wife loves the Lego games and I played with her or watched quite a bit. They are fun games to play, especially if your a fan of the movie they are mimicking.

Just good fun. :)

Yeah, we have all of the Star Wars games, both batmans, harry potter 1, and we're getting LOTR for Christmas, all for the 360. They're great family games and my 6-year-old can effectively master most of it.

Batman 2 is the best of the lot, maybe followed by Lego clone wars, which actually has a bit of RTS in it. Traveler's Tales does a good job of trying new things in each offering and learning from it. Multi-player is OK, but suffers from camera angles. They solved this in HP and after (batman2, clone wars, etc.) by using a dynamic split screen. The earlier ones didn't and can be annoying when you and your coop partner go different directions.

I stumbled on a random game let's play that was Lego Batman 2 DC Super Heroes a while back ..... open world etc... have to say I was intrigued for just open world fun and it is cheap right now.

Yeah, the PC controls are kinda wonky. It's like the devs didn't really understand how a PC works or why it might be better.

I wouldn't dare to laugh.
My kids say they are a lot of fun they are 25 and 21.
They are both very serious gamers.
I was looking at the LOTR one.

I actually really like those LEGO Games.
The latest 2 (Batman 2 and LOTR) have been really good with voice acting and all.
In fact, LEGO Batman 2 Super Heroes is the only game I've seen that gets playing Superman right (you also get to listen to the Superman theme while flying around with him :) ).
