I bought Chivalry a week ago, got it on Steam for $12.50. A day later I bought War of the Roses. At first I didn't like WOTR as well, but after much practice on the London Tournament field I'm getting the hang of it. I still prefer Chivalry a little bit over WOTR.  Also I enjoy the archer in WOTR, but not in Chivalry. I think the WOTR controls for the archer suit my style much better. Chivalry seems to have a little more action going on on the servers too. I also think the combat in Chivalry is more visceral and enjoyable than WOTR. IMHO the camera works better in Chivalry too.

I usually prefer the Knight with the LongSword in Chivalry, but I'm now experimenting with the Man-of-Arms as well. I've played quite a few matches online, mostly in the arena or the ruins. I'm getting much better in the online matches, but still have never placed better than 3rd (of eight players so far). I've got to say, that I'm having more fun with these two games than anything I've played in a long time!

Not to hijack this thread, but in the online MP mode I also picked up M&B Napoleonic Wars on steam for $4.99. Any of you guys have much experience with this one?

And BTW, if you guys want to plan a match online with Chivalry, I'm in!

Not to hijack this thread, but in the online MP mode I also picked up M&B Napoleonic Wars on steam for $4.99. Any of you guys have much experience with this one?

I couldn't help but make some comparisons to Mount & Blade Napoleonic.  And I enjoyed playing Napoleonic much more, in comparison, despite rarely having full populations in the few servers that had the game modes I most wanted to play.  I believe part of the reason is that the match sizes were much larger in Napoleonic, as having 64-player multiplayer matches weren't unheard of IIRC.  Plus there were mounted troops, artillery, etc.  My experience with Chivalry thus far has been spawn-run forward-kill until death-respawn-rinse-repeat.  Doesn't really grab me with anything interesting.

Now that you've brought it up, maybe I should spend the time tracking down the updates and jumping back into M&B Napoleonic Wars.

So are you guys saying that Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is the best of the three? They all look similar to me and I'm not really into that type of game, but I might bite if it means we will be playing it together.

However, I got a good taste of the squad spawn thing in WotR last night...must have been karma for what I said on page 3.  What a complete bummer that was.  Every single fight ended up 4v1 because every time I killed a couple of guys they'd respawn again on one of the other squadmates.  Very frustrating.

Squad spawning can make or break a game.  If your teammates are smart enough to time their spawns and know where to spawn (leader or base), things will be less frustrating.
I usually ride a horse and capture areas and not really do a lot of fighting in WotR to keep most players who love fighting off-balanced.

Really torn on this one...only have a couple hours to decide....I am mostly a single player person and I know it only has a limited bot mode for single players...although since I am usually bad with these games, even the bots probably would kill me:)

Chivalry - - How do you change your class while in-game?  Or do you have to wait until end of match or quit and re-join to change your class?

Bring up the menu with the TAB key, then press either M or N.  I can't remember which.  You also may have to press the B key prior to the M or N key.
