...this

Looking forward to it. I have a love for Mark Walker games - but it's been a love from afar - never having owned one. I've wanted one for quite some time but never knew which one to get and in the end never bothered.

But I had some money for Christmas and read on here about this game, looked up a couple of reviews and thought "I'm getting that!"  ;D

it's a fun system.  A lot of people want it to be more than it is - which is the tactical game of Mark's version of WWIII - but if you just fight the battles that are there, it's a blast.

Cap'n Darwin was involved in the development of this one, too, IIRC.

Good choice, JD. It's a great series. It's one of my more frequently played board games. I think the system is well done and the quality of the game components is excellent.

P.S. We'll expect a World at War AAR from you now ;)

Good buy, JD. I have all the WaW stuff and its a very playable system, lots of fun, plenty of re-playabilty - and nice components. Hope you enjoy it!

Dredd,
Not sure where you live, but there is (hopefully) going to be a big Lock n Load publishing component at the Game On! gaming con in Issaquah, WA from Feb 7 - 11 ish.  Looks promising, and some LnL notables may be present.
Now, the problem is, how to divide five Afghans from three mules and have two Englishmen left over.

JudgeDredd

Thx Jack - but I live in the UK

Two things that are immediately apparent

  • Counters
Whilst beautiful I will definitely need my reading glasses
  • Map
I was expecting the map to be segmented...it's one big foldable one...so I'm going to need a bigger table

Apart from that, it looks stunning.

Aye, the map is a biggy. Its actually surprising how quickly you remember the counter values, although the one that still gives me trouble is the darkish blue AAA value. But yes, I really like the WaW counter design. Those for the NaW series are a lot easier to read as they are 3/4" square rather than 5/8".

Great system JD, hope you enjoy playing the games as much as I have.

Don't tempt me Brant - I already have EG and DofP.......Plus I have Desert Heat and Stalin's Triumph on pre-order with LnL. If I order any more stuff my wallet will go nova and turn into a black hole.

Not to mention Mrs.B

Well - spent about an hour or more cutting out the counters. Now reading the rules.

I was going to dive in tomorrow - but I really do have to complete my P-40 Warhawk model so I can start on my beautiful Challenger 2 model...so this may have to wait until next weekend!

Funny, that's not what I heard her saying...

Perfect. Just don't check your Paypal transactions for a little while...  ;)
