It's busted.

It went and reset all my key bindings and wiped out my custom class.

I'm done with this game.

They mentioned having to "wipe profiles" for the updates to work.  Don't you still have your earnings?

If they "wipe profiles" I sure hope they give you fair market price for all the goodies and perks.  Otherwise this is just bullshit.  It took quite a few hours to get my guys buffed up and kitted out in their current stuff.   >:(

Man. This isn't exactly going to be a joy for all those fans.

I haven't got the game (yet) but they'd better have some kind of plan in place to help folks get past the aggravation factor this is going to cause.

I'm not sure how it's affected other people.  I suspect I may just have logged in at exactly the wrong time.  When I logged in, I decided I'd create a new class to try out some of the new toys so I ended up dropping about 30,000 points just toying around with a new class (who sucks by the way.  Boar spear is junk with the new penetration rules.).  A lot of the less important listings for weapons, armor, and perks (beveling, wood type, etc) were listed as "missing from back end" or some such.  Anyway, I finished creating my new class only to discover that the servers were all down for the update so I couldn't play at that time.  I came back a few hours later to find that three of my custom classes had been wiped.  The game had recorded my purchases for the latest class but not for the previous two so I lost the classes and the points used in creating those first two classes.

Ok, I checked.

My custom classes are "wiped" but all the stuff I previously bought is available for free in the shop.  So, for example, my 30,000GP Scottish Sword is available as an option for free- I don't have to re-buy it.

Time-consuming to rebuild those guys, but not a game-breaker.  The "buy coins" option is cheezy to the max, though.

They always wipe out your profile after major upgrades.   You don't need to unlock the stuff you bought again.

Did you ask about it on their support forum at Pdox?  They seem to frequent the place regularly.  I wouldn't be surprised if that happened to others before, too.

I see this game is 55% off in the new Paradox store, but as I read the official forums I am constantly coming across references to a "dwindling" community and a dying game.  Before I waste any money on WotR, is the game dying?  Am I going to have a problem finding an active server?  No sense buying a MP game if it doesn't have a MP community.

Dunno.  I've not played the last couple weeks simply because I have so much else I've barely touched, and they've been making some drastic (and much-needed) updates to WotR lately so I have plenty else to keep me busy until they get it all up to speed. 

I'm sure some others are in the same situation.  A simple break while they're in the middle of updating.  I still prefer this over most other action-y first-person "shooter" type games out there right now.

I am suspicious as to whether WotR might be going free to play.  I've been reading about how Fatshark has recently allowed real cash to be used to purchase in-game coins, as well as how the amount of free coins you get per session has been tweaked drastically downward with the latest patch.  You take all that, and the "big announcement" that is planned next week, and I can't help but to think that a F2P model might be under consideration.

But you don't need "top of the line" equipment to be good at WotR.  Or maybe that will also change.

I played a bit today (buggers reset my custom class again!).  There were only about a dozen servers showing that were populated but not full.  Only two of those had a ping rate of less than 200 for me.  I live on the west coast of N. America.

I suspect you may be right about the free-to-play, pay-to-not-suck model.
