I have just bought it and I am having a blast

if there is anyone even more newbish than me in the game here are my two

1/. Do not sell your alien corpses on the grey market ... they are useful
2/. Love your S.H.I.V. early on, it saves lives and is a useful scout

Move slowly with lots of Overwatch... Upgrade your Sniper's pistols, so that they will be more effective in Overwatch after a move..

using an alloy SHIV means your redshirt doesn't have to die as often

Don't the SHIVs cost precious alloys to create each one?  I think a noob red shirt is probably cheaper at 10k apiece, and no limited material cost.  Is that correct?

Be very patient. I found that I died a lot more when got in a hurry. Whenever possible let the enemy come to you.

Build an alien containment facility immediately and get new recruits asap. Excavate for a better generator and satellite controller (whatever it's called). Get as many satellites (you will need more engineers) into use as soon as it is feasible to do so.

I am a little beyond worrying about alloys right now and I'd sooner spill credits than lose my Colonels

I could be incorrect here.. but most pairs of enemies I've seen don't move at all until you spot them.  Still.. I use tons of overwatch, just to be safe.

I still struggle with snipers...they never seem to be in the right place at the right time...in other posts I've read about how valuable they are....I need to figure it out!
