I was out drinking with a bunch of Russians I met in the hotel last night.  They were all of the opinion that this was a staged event to garner support for Putin.  They also all think the election is a foregone conclusion.

(and man can they drink!  And man do they loooove to talk politics when they get stuck into their bottles.  They all think this whole WMD thing in Syria is manufactured, just like Iraq and the above-mentioned Putin thing and can't understand how the American public is falling for it again.  Not even going to get into their views on Iran...)
