I don't much discussion on this part of Shogun 2 and I have yet to play it. I expect it to be like Lords of the Rising Sun on steroids. What say youse?

I was playing my first campaign of it and enjoying it when I bought a new PC and couldn't get S2 to run.  It wasn't until a month ago that AMD finally fixed the driver issue that I've been able to play again.  I fired up my campaign but couldn't really remember what was going on.  Just seemed like everyone in the game except my related clan was at war with me and they had massive stacks.  I have stack envy.

I like the strat map and how less developed Japan looks compared to S2's main map.  Other than that, it really didn't feel that much different than the main campaign.  Buildings were different and the units you could build were a bit more basic but functionally the same.

Sir Slash

I found it a fine play, not as appealing as the other 2 and a bit slower-paced. Not alot of great units, when you get Samurai, you've gotten about the best. I never got as far as Realm Divide and so can't comment on that. Very nice map.
"Take a look at that". Sgt. Wilkerson-- CMBN. His last words after spotting a German tank on the other side of a hedgerow.

I guess I had Total War burn-out by this stage but I did not get into it.  To me the graphics and UI were great, however the units etc... seemed bland to me and I lost interest early on.  I actually went back to playing MTW II The Third Age.

Thanks guys. How many factions are there in Rise of the Samurai?

I think there are six.  There are three main clans and each has two different family/factions to choose from.  You're automatically allied with your family connection at the start of the game but it doesn't always stay that way.

Taira, Minamoto and all that jazz I'm guessing...
