Battlefront Releases its latest update to Combat Mission2 V2.0

Exciting news for anyone using the new V2.0 upgrade - a new update :) ....

At last, the first free update for the 2.0 Upgrade for Combat Mission: Battle for Normandy is available! And it comes with a number of notable tweaks, fixed and changes:

New 2.01 Feature List
* Corrected issues with deploying MGs in buildings.
* Soldiers fire weapons faster at short ranges, especially Garand rifles.
* Small arms fire causes more suppression than before.
* General improvements to MG performance behavior. See note below this list for more information.
* Sandbags, wire, foxholes, hedgehogs, and trenches are correctly treated as "lower down" for spotting purposes.
* Pistol accuracy slightly reduced.
* BAR range increased to 800m.
* Shaders optimized for nVidia and ATI.
* Moving a mortar even a short distance causes greater loss of target acquisition.
* Bunker-mounted MGs are more accurate than before.
* SS leaders have correct poncho camouflage pattern.
* Corrected an accuracy problem with on-map indirect fire.
* Crews bailed out of destroyed vehicles have more jittery morale.
* Corrected a vehicle navigation problem on bridges.
* Target line for area fire is slightly thicker to differentiate it.
* Shooting at bunkers from very short range works better.
* Daimler SOD given a mounted Bren LMG.
* Fixed a bug causing immobilized MG teams after dismounting from MG bunkers.
* Purple "pop smoke" target line goes away when it should.
* Better small-arms aiming at unarmored vehicles.
* Minor TO&E fixes.
* Fixed a bug that occasionally caused weapons crews to move back to an old position when deploying their weapon.
* Fixed a bug that caused some Macs to crash while loading scenarios.
Special Note: MGs now have more effective aiming, rates of fire, and suppression effects. These highly requested changes make combat even more realistic and more challenging tactically. Some players will find their existing tactics may need some adjustments, others may find no significant need for change. We recommend practicing attacks on MG positions before continuing an in progress Campaign or game against another player.

Still waiting for the patch notes that they've removed the "I'm sorry, you activated this too many times, please buy again or come grovel to us for a new activation" feature.   I mean, seriously... both Normandy and Italy can be found on various torrent sites.  It's not like their DRM is *working*.

I own both CMBN with the Commonwealth add-on and CMFI and have been wanting to reinstall one or the other for a while now. I have the Norton problem with it eating the exe file and I haven't been motivated enough to deal with Norton AND buying/installing the 2.0 patch AND dealing with their activation nonsense.

I had the Norton thing as well....  But after adding the games to the exception list, no more problems.  Takes about 30 seconds to fix.

I can help you with that straight away. I sent a solution that worked to Martin at Battlefront when I had the exact same problem.

I hope that solves your problem and that you'll be able to have fun with them now. Both are outstanding games.

When I had an issue installing CMBN, I unfortunately had problems with the activation code and used up all my allowance. I contacted Martin at Battlefront Support and he reset my counter back to 1 install, with credit added (I think you can have up to three installs or thereabouts).He made no fuss, there was no necessity for me to grovel, nor did I have to buy (not that I would have, given the circumstances) a replacement product, for what was an installation error.

I don't like DRM any more than you, in fact it's a pet hate of mine. Like you, I think it doesn't do much to prevent piracy and I think it is resented by a lot of bona fide users. Whilst Battlefront use it they have not made it a nightmare experience like it could have been, as they politely helped me with resetting the activation counter when things went wrong. I'm sorry if you've had a different experience. If activation remains a problem, I suggest you email Battlefront Support and tell them what problem you had and ask them for help. There really is no need to grovel, but they can't help you if you don't tell them you need help.

My AVS is through my internet provider and so not sure what brand but I'ne also had the eaten EXE. file thing happen to me. I actually thought I was doing something wrong for a long time. Now I always back-up my save games file before installing a patch from Battlefront in case I have to re-install the game.

I hunted all over Norton 360 and couldn't find an exception list anywhere. The bastards sure hide it well. I think I Googled it as well and couldn't find any clear directions on how to get to it. (been awhile since I tried)

When you bring up the Norton panel, there is a "settings" item.  and there you will see an "Antivirus and SONAR Exclusions" item.  There are three sub items, I usually add to the exclusion to all.
