Public Beta will open up soon for those who pre-order..... here is a video showing the pre-beta.  This will be a buy for me after watching the video and seeing how much they have done to the game..... and the fact of how much I really like FE.

It looks just like the current one, FE, doesn't it?  Have they really added much or is this another standalone cash grab?

I dunno.. people still seemed rather lukewarm about the second iteration.  I've seen a lot mentioned about how small & limited the maps are; how bland the combat is.

I think FE looks interesting but never picked it up due to a lack of enthusiam about it, and hearing of yet another upcoming repackage & resale of the same game.  This will be the third time it's been repackaged, amiright?  So I was in no hurry to buy previous ones when they're regularly becoming outdated, and I would have to buy yet another standalone product that just contains updates.  That kind of thing makes me flee the "Buy" button.  ???

FE Legendary Heroes is an expansion and it adds a huge map that allows for a very long game.  It will change the way you recuit heroes that it is now based on fame.  They have added more magic to the game and monsters, they have also revamped how the towns work.  I like FE personally, I understand that the graphics may seem a little bland but it works well with the game and I do not mind it.  I think the expansion will help further stream line some functions of the game, while adding content.... could be a wait and see if you have not purchased FE yet.

Well.. if you enjoy it then perhaps I'll watch for FE on a sale sometime & check it out anyway.  I generally like the same stuff you do so it makes sense.  Being on the regular Dominions 3 kick lately, it wouldn't be a big leap to move to a different fantasy strategy game I suppose.

Just need to buy enough extra time in the day to play it.  I still have stuff I haven't even fired up yet.  ;D

Is this being offered for free to those who got FE free?  I haven't seen anything in my inbox about it.

It is $19.99 for those who already own FE and I believe $39.99 for both once released if you do not own it.

Actually a little Googling and I answered my own question:

QuoteWar of Magic owners special option
Players who bought War of Magic before November of 2010 get Legendary Heroes as part of their original purchase! You don't have to sign up. It'll automatically be added to your Stardock account and a Steam serial number will be sent to you to get it when it's available!

So if I don't get the Beta at least I can count on a Steam key at release.

I purchased FE on sale awhile back and my steam account says I've played 68 hours. I suppose that is enough to get a feel for the game.  I was quite enjoying playing until I picked up Eador: Genesis. I'll just have to get back to FE once I get Eador out of my system.

Steelgrave

I don't know what it says about me when I read a thread like this, think "hey, sounds like a game I should buy", I go to Steam to order it and Steam says.....

Steam says that I already own the game....

Sure enough, I look at my Games tab on Steam and there it is. I must have bought it last time it was on sale and haven't gotten around to playing it yet. Geez, will you look at that.....I even have a desktop icon for it already, right there on my computer. It's mocking me as I write this.

Is there such a thing as having too many damn games? Silly question, I know, I know....that's just not possible.

Haha Steelgrave, that's pretty shocking!  In a good way, of course. ;)

I'm now determined to play it this weekend before I forget again that I have it  ;)

You'll probably be pleasantly surprised.  It's come a long way since the War of Magic disaster.

Then again memory lapse is one way of ensuring re-playability  :)
