WOT is one game I may never go back to, they lost me when they stopped making new maps and decided to balance everything with gold ammo. When I saw a gold spewing L-tracktor kill a tier 9 tank, that was it for me. Game development has been stuck in a rut of just add new tanks then Nerf, tweak and repeat.

Strange post not seen any of this and i play nearly every day.

speaking of loltraktors...  I keep one around for the fun of it.  having an elite crew with full camo and a camo net and then dropping them into a noob match is hysterical as players complain about you hacking with an invisible tank.  the 8.6 patch has also done wonders with the camo system overall which is excellent as I play mostly tank destroyers.  camo skill, camo net and camo paint are now cumulative.   my Stug is a stealth shrub of death!
Jarhead - Yeah. You're probably right.

Gus - I use sweatpants with flannel shorts to soak up my crotch sweat.

Banzai Cat - There is no "partial credit" in grammar. Like anal sex. It's either in, or it's not.

Mirth - We learned long ago that they key isn't to outrun Star, it's to outrun Gus.

Martok - I don't know if it's possible to have an "anti-boner"...but I now have one.

Gus - Celery is vile and has no reason to exist. Like underwear on Star.

Do the Soviets still have their rather impressive camo advantage for higher tier tanks? I guess the Germans also have more vehicles to choose from now, but in the beta the high end Soviet vehicles had much better camo ratings than the German tank destroyers. Not necessarily ahistorical considering the size of the Ferdinand or Jagdtiger, but it caused some balancing issues.

The balancing for higher tier equipment was pretty pro-Soviet in the beta to begin with, but based on what I'm reading about the current state of the game, at least the game is more fun for everyone now.

You've not seen auto-loader tanks shooting gold ammo or the tier 9-10 pub matches where some one teamed up brings a tier 1 to the match? Guess you missed the "you suck, this team sucks, etc, etc, just look at your win rate" rants in every other game too! :o

GDS_Starfury

Ive seen the higher tier autoloaders but the lower tiered tank stuck in +8 matches is a thing of the distant past.

autoloaders are painful but not always using gold, i have a t69/amx50/100 and have been accused of using gold on more than one occasion and i don't!! I think the American autoloaders to reload too fast. the French ones seem to take ages.

T57 is a beast on the battlefield.

While I played a good deal of TDs, too, there was a point where the 'invisibility' got too ridiculous awhile back and they finally managed to nerf it to reasonable levels.  Are you telling me they just reversed that situation?  That would suck.

I recall times when I'd take repeated fire from a bush ~200 to 300m away and not be able to see them, back then.  Which was ridiculous because the game didn't show muzzle flashes.  Sure, you vaguely see the round streak by after it had gone a short distance but that's not near as helpful as the missing muzzle flash would be.   I'm not sure what combination of equipment & skills these people had pumped up to extreme levels but you practically had to drive right up face-to-face before they just magically appeared.  I hope it isn't that bad now.  I think it's nice from a distance, but up close that shouldn't be the case if it's firing while at relatively short distances.

If your not playing in a clan, in clan wars, your missing 80% of the fun.
Working with a team of 14 other skilled tankers using team speak makes the game immensely more fun and interesting. Pub battles are a joke with a combination of bad players and everyone playing as an individual.
My current favorite tank is the 183 British TD. With the accuracy buff from the latest patch I can actually hit what I am aiming at. Its addictive one shotting enemy tanks.

i'm in my long term clan just not enough of us so missing out on clan wars

I'd really like to join a clan and play, but often the clans I see are for younger folks who can play MUCH more than I can.  Is there like an old farts clan?  Or a clan for working stiffs?

SgtRock

Maybe that's the difference, I never joined a clan. Clans just sounded like too much work, the Clans that tired to recruit me had strict requirements (have to be premium, have to use team speak, always use gold ammo, even in the training room, practice time mandatory, have to have specific tier 10 tanks, etc, etc).  I often wondered how much effect internet speed has on the game?

That's why I never bothered joining a Clan in these match-based multiplayer games.  I prefer to play casually and only when I feel like it - not on a schedule.  I don't really mind the disadvantages of playing Public games, they're usually not too bad as long as the game being played doesn't have what I'd consider major issues.

GDS_Starfury

I have had no problem having fun without either joining a clan or paying for the game.  I give the credit to my long term plan with WoT.  Ive stuck pretty much to one countries tanks and Ive minimized not only the tanks in my garage but the crews that run them.  Ive given most tanks at least a 100 matches before either moving on or seriously upgrading their equipment.  this has allowed all of those crews to be on their third or fourth skill sets by now and that makes a HUGE difference in what you can do.
lets look at my Stug.  the tank itself has 2100 battles and the crew right now has an average of 1900.  the tank has a camo net, camo paint for all 3 environments and the crew skill is currently 92%.  you cant see me.  8)  the crew also has 100% Brothers In Arms, 100% repair and operates at 121% efficency.  you cant do that jumping around dozens of tanks with all kinds of play styles.
my JagdTiger crew has 4000 battles spread over the Stug, Pz4, JagdPanther, Ferd and JT.  their skill sets are more varied and almost done with their 4th set.  fire fighting, clutch braking, safe ammo storage, expanded visual range, repair and firefighting.  this crew in the Ferd was able to turn with scout tanks trying to circle kill me.  got accused of hacking for that  ;D.
dont skip around, pick a country and dont be stupid..

You've participated in 16 battles per day on average (13140/809), impressive. I'm guessing you switch vehicles after you're blown up instead of waiting for the match to end?
